As Christmas draws ever closer the excitement is building in the cattery at DoggieRescue for
every homeless kitty hopes that on Christmas morning their wishes will be granted. A few of the
cats were even bold enough to tell Santa what they would REALLY like this Christmas….

Dear Santa,

I arrived at DoggieRescue in
August 2018 with my 4 kittens!
All named after desserts and
fortunately they were all rehomed.
I am the sweetest dessert of them
all and would love to find a home
for Christmas which will be my
second one as a homeless cat at
DoggieRescue. I understand that
Christmas time involves a lot of
food therefore a lot of plates and
dishes need washing up! As you
can see I love the kitchen sink.
On Mondays when the cats get to
roam the office I go straight to the
sink for some sunbaking and
Sponsor: Merry Christmas from relaxation. I am a girl who knows
Lesley Cansdell & Titch the cat all about the good life, but would
much prefer a sink in my own
home!

“A sink all to myself would be the
best Christmas present ever Santa
and I will help my new family do the
dishes of course.” Brulee

want so desperately to be loved. My favourite game is to
hide and I think nobody can see me. Sometimes I hide “Santa, my wish is to have my own towels to hide
behind a towel in the bathroom or under a desk. I have a behind, my own toys to play with and most of all my
game where I pretend everything belongs to me but then own very special human to love.” Ted

Dear Santa,

It’s Lulu here and I want to tell you firstly that I have
been a very good girl all of the year. I have thought a lot
about my Christmas wish. Here is what I would like.

For Christmas Santa can you bring me a human who
will never move and not take me with them. Or dump
me when their relationships change. I also want a
human who will never put me in in a pound and leave.
I’d like someone who would never let me go hungry, or
be hurt or frightened—I’ve been there and it’s a scary
place to be.

“Santa my Christmas wish is for a human who won’t
desert me because I am 11 years old. Who will care for
me if I become sick and when my time finally comes
who will be there to hold me. And love me. Because I
am family.” Lulu

PS: There are some kitties here who have been
discriminated against because they are not perfect,
many waiting for a home since last Christmas. Please
Santa, don’t forget them this year.

• Feline FEATURE WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
Last Christmas all Willy Wonka wanted was a home and a
forever family...This year he has other things on his mind!

Hello Everyone at DoggieRescue!

My mum was asked if I could give you all an update for the
Christmas issue of the magazine on how I am going in my new
forever home. I will interrupt my bath in the sun so I can dictate
some thoughts to my mum who will translate for me.

I have staked out my favourite places to
sleep with the one on my Mum’s office chair
being the bees’ knees. During the day my
sister Abby and I go outside to the cattery
where we can watch all that is happening in
the garden and street, this way we stay safe,
and so do all the other wildlife who share the
garden with us.

I LOVE my Mum’s slippers. I stick my head
right up inside ( see photo below ) and take a
deep breath. Mum thinks I am a bit of a silly
rascal but it gives her and Dad a laugh.
I have been in my new home for about 12 weeks now. Wow! How
it has flown. Though I did feel we would never get here as it took To all my friends still waiting in the shelter
us a 5 hour drive to get home! I have a new cat sister called Abby your turn is coming very soon. Bye for now
who is the same age as me. Sometimes we play zoomies around and Merry Christmas to all! TULLY
the house (the long hallway is a favourite ‘chase me’ racetrack).
Other times we wrestle with each other with Mum playing the
referee if things become too rough! I also live with two others— my
brother (Cody) and sister (Willow) who are dogs. I stalk around like
I am the boss and they pretend like it is all true, so it is all cool! I
also have a new name…“TULLY SOMMER”

“ Mum was explaining to me what ‘Christmas’ is. She said it
is a day of the year where we show all the other creatures on
earth kindness, tolerance and love served up with good food
and lots of special attention. You know what? I realised that
every day is ‘Christmas’ for me now!” Tully

Each year 1,000’s
of abandoned pets
in pounds around

Australia spend
their Christmas in

a cage….

Through out this E-Magazine we have highlighted some pounds where the caring pound staff and
volunteers are desperately trying to save lives. It is early December and these faces you see now will by
Christmas, be gone. Hopefully all adopted but some, the older and the very young, the plainer looking
and especially the timid and scared ones, may not. Their space will be quickly filled by other equally
frightened, dumped cats and kittens.

It seems a never ending battle to try and save these precious lives
but YOU can help.

4 WAYS YOU CAN HELP SAVE LIVES!

1. ADOPT—DON’T SHOP Are you seriously wanting a KITTEN / CAT this Christmas? Are
you committed to caring for your new pet for the next perhaps 20 years? If the answer is YES then
please...adopt a homeless kitty from a pound. They are just as beautiful and their lives are equally
precious and worth saving.

2. CAN’T ADOPT THEN NETWORK On the following pages are links to large pounds.
Scroll down the lists of kittens and cats looking for homes—SPREAD THE WORD! There are
thousands of cat lovers on TWITTER and FACEBOOK. Send these links to all of your friends.

3. VOLUNTEER Contact the pounds on these pages (or your local pound) and ask them how
you can help. Donate your time and resources.

4. FOSTER A KITTY If you are really serious about saving a life enquire about rescue groups
in your area. Do you have a secure environment where a kitten/s or a cat could be cared for and a
few weeks/months to spare?

If everyone helped a little many more lives would be saved
but by ignoring the problem thousands of rehomeable cats and kittens simply perish….

10 DECEMBER 2019 DOGGIERESCUE CATS E- MAGAZINE

WE WISH YOU A
MERRY CHRISTMAS

Christmas is a joyous time of the year,
families gather, children play, food is
plentiful and happy laughter is heard.
A contented cat sleeps after a big meal of
Christmas goodies, deep purrs fill the room.
But for the desperate cats and kittens
now waiting in the pounds the countdown to
Christmas means less people focused on a homeless
cat’s plight, and far less chance of adoption…..

CAMPBELLTOWN POUND NEAR CAPACITY

MUM AND BABIES ARE IN BIG TROUBLE.
THEY NEED A RESCUE AND YOUR HELP!

Meet Melody & babies. One of the mums who has been overlooked so
far is this girl. She came into the facility with her 4 bubs and being out of
the pound would be the best thing for her and the babies. When Melody
came into the facility she was very underweight and has been struggling
to gain weight while also feeding her kittens. In turn, her kittens have
been gaining weight slowly due to mum not having much nourishment.

Our second group of kitties are the babies from 8wks—12wks. In order of appearance they are Pigsy,
Penguin, Lemur, Bear, Beau, Sammy, Tucker, Hazel & Walter. If cared for they could live 20 years or more but
small kittens don’t do well in a pound environment. If you are serious about a new four legged family member for
Christmas give a homeless baby a chance. CLICK HERE for more details and adoption prices.

The last group of kitties needing homes are the ADULT cats. Potential adopters often by-pass an older kitty
when looking to adopt when often an adult cat would be more suitable for their family and environment.
Adult cats make great pets and are less trouble than a tiny kitten. CLICK HERE for details of featured cats

The Naughty List

for Christmas Compiled by Tricia Curran

https:rabbit.org/holiday-safety/

Accidents involving pets increase during the holiday season so we have listed a few ‘naughties’ to watch out for with
your curious bun this Christmas. Party noise is frightening, and enthusiastic children who don’t know how to handle
rabbits can cause unintentional injury. You can minimise your pet’s stress by putting him in a quiet area or securing
him in his pen while guests are around. Keep your rabbit safe and happy so everyone can enjoy a Merry Christmas.

SANTA’S

GOT MAIL!

Dear Santa,

My name is Grayson and I am a homeless kitty
at DoggieRescue Shelter. I am 18 months old
and I’ve never had a home.

I have three wishes Santa…

MY 1ST WISH would be for a family to love me
but you see it is hard because I am incontinent
and have to wear a nappy which I do with style!
Monika has told me not to lose heart, that
someone will realize just how special I am one
day, but I feel so sad that I will spend another
Christmas homeless.

MY 2ND WISH is that could you also bring a
home for the other homeless kitties here with
me at DoggieRescue who are my good friends.

MY 3RD WISH, and I know you are magical,
so you can probably read my thoughts!!!
DoggieRescue 2020 Calendars make great
Christmas gifts and the sale of them saves
the lives of desperate kitties in the pound.
Could you put a few in your sack as we need
to sell them all before the end of the year.

One more thing..If I don’t have a home will you
still find me? from Grayson, a very good boy. Grayson stars as the month of
August 2020 Calendar boy!

Please call DoggieRescue on 9486-3133 at Ingleside or fill in the Adoption
form for cats on www.doggierescue.com/adoption_cat and email it to
