A growing number of young adults are shunning traditional 9-to-5 jobs
to forge their own entrepreneurial success. In responding to that need,
Amway has been engaging young Amway Business Owners (ABOs) leaders
throughout the year to determine the kind of activities, events and initiatives

that would support young ABOs in driving their business forward.

We invited young ABO
leaders from Malaysia,
Brunei and Singapore
to meet up with David
Vanderveen, co-founder
of XS™ Energy Drink, to
learn about the unique
XS business opportunity.
We organised activities
like bodyboarding on the
FLOWRIDER®, white
water rafting and paintball,
which enabled Vanderveen
to introduce the vibrant

They claim they don’t like being a salesperson of fast

they don’t mind being an unpaid spokesperson for
say Apple products. They also tend to reject Amway
without understanding how the business works.

Actions we need to take to build a successful
Amway business…

The most important action for me is to attend
meetings and keep learning. Within my group, we
shun hard selling tactics and much prefer genuine
product sharing, so it’s very important for us to have
an in-depth understanding of the Amway business.

Are Amway Values still relevant today?

For me, all the Amway Values are just as relevant
today as back then. I make it a point to highlight
the Values when I am sharing the Amway Business
Opportunity with others.

All four Founders’ Fundamentals are equally
important to me. These are the reasons why I chose
to build my Amway business. I also appreciate the
effort that Amway is making to attract more young
entrepreneurs.

I want young people to know that, whether you are
working or still studying, now is the best time to build
your Amway business. You can start this business
part-time and earn passive income. This is one
opportunity which doesn’t require you to work 9-to-
5 as you can arrange your own schedule to build a

carry ourselves as ABOs will also enhance the positive perception
towards the Amway brand as people tend to be more receptive to
those who build the business ethically, professionally and with
passion.

Freedom) are young people usually most attracted to?

Bax Li (BL): For me, young people are most attracted to Freedom
and Reward. They live by the slogan YOLO (You Only Live Once);
they want to be able to fulfil their dreams and try out the things
they want to do in life if they had the financial ability and freedom
to do so.

Santy Tan (ST): Today’s youth are more exposed, so many are
starting to realise that they cannot only rely on their fulltime
employment. They want to be financially rewarded as well as enjoy
the freedom of time and space. When they realise that Amway can
offer these to them if they put in the effort, they are willing to work
for it.

How can we cultivate brand loyalty towards youth centric Amway
products?

BL: Young people nowadays prefer to follow the latest trends
in the market or within their own social group. So, creating an
exciting environment is important as it allows us to educate them
on the Amway business and its products so that they will not easily
switch brands.

ST: The youth are adventurous and energetic. When they have a
great experience with friends, they are more willing and open to
start recommending products. After that, Amway’s product quality
speaks for itself.

Have fun and grow together. Encourage them to attend events and
meetings to continue learning and be inspired. Help them ‘see’
their own future when they meet other successful Amway leaders
both locally and globally.
