The site is currently located between the river and
the mangrove park in the community area. Because the small
river connected to the Langat River, the site has the potential
to be a boat and fishing hub. The actual site boundary will
include the river in the centre of the site. The site’s entrance
is next to a recreational mangrove park. This can also help to
strengthen the center’s sense of welcoming visitors. One of
the special site features that can lead to the integration of the
building structure is the integration of the water area and the
land area.

SWOC ANALYSIS

Kg. Sijangkang Mangrove Recreational Park, Selangor

Strength
The abundance of mangroves in Kampung
Sekinjang contributes to the recreational
park’s p otential as a central e cotourism
attraction. The site is also located far away
from the rapid development of Klang, giving
the site an environmental feel. The park also
benefits the wildlife in the surrounding area.

Weakness
The lack of government support in
Kampung Sijangkang is a major threat to the
community. The lack of facilities near the
site contributes to a drop in tourist numbers.
Because the site is located far from the
communities, it is more difficult to reach the
destinations. The proposed site is surrounded
by undeveloped land by nature, which slows

development.
Opportunities
As it has a lot of potential to contribute to
ecotourism, Kampung Sijangkang could be
a one-stop centre for mangrove tourism and
education. This site could serve as a destination
for tourists and researchers looking to expand
their knowledge of the mangrove.

Constraints
The inability of the public and the community
to reach the location is hampered by a lack
of connection with public transportation. Due
to a lack of government interest, Kampung
Sekinjang does not focus on developing

ecotourism.

General Info
Kuala Sepetang Mangrove Ecotourism

Kuala Sepetang is best known for its sustainable mangrove forests that help thrive the charcoal
industry. Besides that Kuala Sepetang ecotourism is driven by nature-based recreations like eagle and
dolphin show, bird watching and fireflies sighting.
Mangrove forests are one of Earth’s most rapidly disappearing ecosystems. These coastal forests,
with trees adapted to growing in salty soil and water, protect coastlines from erosion and are a natural
barrier to strong coastal storms and tsunamis. The tangled root systems are a nursery for shrimp and many
species of fish that go on to live their adult lives in the open ocean, while also acting as a home for many
types of birds and often a resting place for migratory flocks.
