Through the lessons, both the students and their subject teacher enjoy their times together. By Sofia Aishah Suicano Novisteros As the curtains draw on this semester's TLE baking escapades, I find myself reflecting on a whirlwind of flour, sugar, and unexpected mishaps. Chapter 1 kicked off with biscuits and cookies, where I took my first hesitant steps into the world of ovenless baking, armed with only a mini-toast oven. The basics of baking and the essential tools became my companions, even if I initially charred a batch of cookies— lesson learned, the hard way. 1. QUARTER ONE 2. QUARTER TWO While we progressed to the next lesson, I delved into the complex subject of bread. Armed with knowledge of the ingredients, the science behind gluten, and the various options that lay beyond just bread and pastries, there was so much possibility. As our exploration of the new culinary world continues, we dived into the realm of cakes and, of course, everyone's favorite... Cupcakes! Steaming became my unexpected ally, while I expanded my horizons into the world of frosting, piping, and the myriad of cake decorating methods and tools, featuring the everhandy lazy susan. 3. QUARTER THREE 4. QUARTER FOUR In the final lesson, we focused on product presentation and design. While our studies have focused on baking and the creative process, the focus shifted to strategic placement and design. With this, we ensured that our creations not only showcased our talents, but also captured the gaze and attention of many... Including Ma’am Nirah. Through this, my journey in baking has expanded beyond the oven, unfolding and exposing my kitchen experience throughout the semester, while also delving into the sweet and savory tales it contained.
