National Institute of Business Management (NIBM) is the premier Business School in Sri Lanka. We
keep abreast of global trends and constantly upgrade our products to suit today’s needs. Over the
years we have developed our identity while proving to be a leader in management training and
education. We have empowered thousands to carve better futures for themselves.

The NIBM has been functioning for 53 years having established in 1968 under the purview of the
Ministry of Industries and Scientific Affairs in collaboration with the United Nations Development
Program as an agency for the implementation of the programs of the ILO. It was subsequently
incorporated as the National Institute of Business Management by an Act of Parliament (The
National Institute of Business Management Law No 23 of 1976). Certain amendments to this Act
were brought in under Act No. 28 of 1991.

NIBM functioning as a statutory body under the State Ministry of Skills Development, Vocational
Education, Research & Innovation is an educational institution in the government sector. We are a
self–sustained, internationally accepted, UGC recognized degree awarding institute. From 2009
onwards we won the Merit Award at the presentation of National Quality Awards and in addition, ISO
– 9001-2008 standards certificate has also been awarded to NIBM.

Arduino Technology

What is Arduino?
Arduino is a major technology in IoT (Internet of Things) world. This is an open-source software
and hardware company that building Arduino tools or the components. These components are
called single-board microcontroller and kits that can build digital devices. The Board developed
by them are termed as Arduino boards that are capable of reading inputs like – radar, light on a
sensor, press of a button, etc. can convert them into an output like activating the LED light,
motors, buzzers, etc. There are different variants of the Arduino board available in the markets
e.g., Nano, Uno, Atmega, etc. each one of them vary in shape and sizes. It also provides a
Software IDE for their boards, which helps the developer to program the board in Language, this
IDE also gives the liberty to the user to provide input instruction directly from the system.

Types of Arduino boards.
1. Arduino UNO
2. Arduino Mega
3. Nano
4. Mini
5. Lilypad

Arduino software uses Arduino Programming language which is C based to write the code. The
software coverts the C based program into assembly code internally and then uploads it to the
board. Along with the code editor, the software also consists of a compiler, an uploader, libraries
for the peripheral devices.

Importance of IOT in this pandemic

The internet of things concept is on the rise, and we are seeing it take on new applications in
the field of medicine. As robots become more prevalent in hospitals and aid humans in their
over-extended care system, they make life easier for patients by automating procedures and
saving time. Oftentimes, these medical robots save lives that would have otherwise been lost if
manual labor was not used for certain tasks. Also, based on the increased cost of care for
burned-out doctors and nurses, robots are lesser in price and more efficient. The robots also
provide a level of accuracy that would otherwise be impossible by a human hand. This has
created a new way to think about medical care. We must now consider how we can integrate
this technology into our lives in order to save human lives while not detracting from the quality of
medical care or making it inaccessible to the majority of people. The benefits of this new way of
thinking are very clear, and thus a medical robot represents a paradigm shift in the medical
resort.

The internet of things is on the rise. Some of the newest technology is being developed by Bay
Area startups that have created devices that will allow us to send messages to our phones from
these devices. Google is currently working with Telemedicine company Merge Healthcare Inc.
to create a standard protocol and a system for sending messages to physicians. Ultimately, this
could mean that you can be in Boston and be able to contact your doctor in California. Even
more futuristic is the idea of using MRIs to translate audio and convert it into text messages that
could be sent from anywhere to anywhere. This robust technology is being developed even
though it will most likely not be available until well into the future.

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence is the intelligence possessed by the machines under which they can
perform various functions with human help. With the help of A.I, machines will be able to learn,
solve problems, plan things, think, etc. Artificial Intelligence, for example, is the simulation of
human intelligence by machines. In the field of technology, Artificial Intelligence is evolving
rapidly day by day and it is believed that in the near future, artificial intelligence is going to
change human life very drastically and will most probably end all the crises of the world by
sorting out the major problems.
Our life in this modern age depends largely on computers. It is almost impossible to think about
life without computers. We need computers in everything that we use in our daily lives. So it
becomes very important to make computers intelligent so that our lives become easy. Artificial
Intelligence is the theory and development of computers, which imitates the human intelligence
and senses, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation
between languages. Artificial Intelligence has brought a revolution in the world of technology.

• Marketing: Artificial Intelligence provides a deep knowledge of consumers and potential
clients to the marketers by enabling them to deliver information at the right time. Through
AI solutions, the marketers can refine their campaigns and strategies.

• Agriculture: AI technology can be used to detect diseases in plants, pests, and poor
plant nutrition. With the help of AI, farmers can analyze the weather conditions,
temperature, water usage, and condition of the soil.

• Banking: Fraudulent activities can be detected through AI solutions. AI bots, digital
payment advisers can create a high quality of service.

• Health Care: Artificial Intelligence can surpass human cognition in the analysis,
diagnosis, and complication of complicated medical data.
