To better educate these operators the IDWSF, in
conjunction with the Oregon and Washington chapters, plus
the wildlife agencies from Idaho, Oregon and Washington,
have committed to funding a two-year outreach program.
An individual will be hired to contact local small flock
domestic sheep operators to discuss and educate them
regarding the Movi disease process and how they can
cooperate in preventing contact between domestic and
bighorn sheep. This program will be coordinated through
the Asotin County Conservation District.
IDWSF recently agreed to participate in a new region-
wide collaborative group, Efficient Public Collaboration.
It is a unique concept in addressing collaboration and will
hopefully be more productive than existing collaborative
groups.

Our work and involvement regarding the project is reported

6. Bighorn lamb surveys
Several IDWSF members located and surveyed ewes
and lambs in the Owyhee wilderness last summer. They
volunteered with the Idaho F&G and University of Idaho
Masters Student Nicole Biladeau on her research project.
The data collected is important for studying the relationship
between habitat and lamb survival. The field observations
also assess general ewe and lamb health and are vigilant for
signs of Movi in this herd. See the article by Josh Miller in
this journal for more information and pictures.
