A question word or interrogative word is a function word used to ask a question, such as what, which, when, where, who, whom, whose, why, whether and how. They are sometimes called wh-words, because in English most of them start with wh-. They may be used in both direct questions and in indirect questions. Question Words หมายถึงคำ ที่แสดงคำ ถาม ได้แก่ คำ ว่า Who, Whom, What, When, Where, Why, Whose, Which และ How ซึ่งเมื่อใดที่คำ เหล่านี้ขึ้นต้นประโยคและ ลงท้ายด้วยเครื่องหมายคำ ถามประโยคนั้นถือว่าเป็น ประโยคคำ ถาม ซึ่งประโยคคำ ถามที่ขึ้นต้นด้วย Question Words จะเป็นการถามที่ต้องการคำ ตอบแบบตรงประเด็น Question word 1

ข้อสังเกต : who = ใคร ถือว่าเป็นประธานเอกพจน์ไว้ก่อนเสมอ จึงใช้กริยริาเหมือน He/She/It Who is in the room? He is in the room. Who has a camera? She has a camera. Who lives with Jenny?
