Six sentences have been removed from the article. Choose from the sentences A to H the one which fits each gap (27 to 32). There are two extra sentences which you do not need to use. The Penang Bridge The Penang Bridge, a 13.5-kilometer dual carriageway, was the first and only road connection between the peninsula and the island of Penang until 2014. The second Penang Bridge, also known as the Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge, which is 24 kilometers long, opened to traffic on March 2, 2014. (27) The idea to build the iconic Penang Bridge was suggested by the late Tun Abdul Razak, the second Prime Minister of Malaysia and the late Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu, the second Chief Minister of Penang. (28) The bridge is well known as the second longest bridge in Malaysia and the fifth-longest in Southeast Asia and a national landmark. (29) People had to use ferries to cross to and from the island as it was the only available transportation from the mainland. The people insisted that the government take the necessary action to build the Penang Bridge. (30) There were more than 2,300 people involved in its construction, which saw 20 workers killed during the course of construction. On October 20, 1984, five workers were killed when a crossbeam collapsed. (31) Legend has it that pillar 56 of the bridge held the secret to these mysterious incidents. (32) It is also a frequent spot for road accidents and even suicides. In May 2022, for instance, nine attempted suicides were recorded with five of them fatal.
