They give us more information about nouns. a sharp pencil, the dirty toilet, a kind man The words sharp, dirty and kind describe the nouns pencil, toilet and man. When we use two or more adjectives to describe a noun, we usually follow this order: size, shape, colour, material. I can see a small, round, purple, plastic ball on the sofa. We also use adjectives to compare nouns. There are three degrees of comparison. Positive degree Comparative degree Superlative degree (To describe only one noun) (To compare 2 unequal nouns) add -er (To compare 3 or more nouns) add -est brave cool sweet heavy young easy braver cooler sweeter heavier younger easier bravest coolest sweetest heaviest youngest easiest Ali is brave. Sunil is braver but Jason is the bravest. Sometimes when we compare adjectives that have two or more syllables, we use more for the comparative form and most for the superlative form.
