Kingsland has year-round attractions: boating, fishing, hunting,
swimming, golfing, hiking, birding, eating, exploring. Here are some resources for newcomers and visitors:

Many visitors head up Packsaddle Mountain. In 1873 it was the

summits rises 650 feet above U.S. Highway 71, southwest of
Kingsland. Still others head to Devil’s Waterhole off Park Road 4.
Visitors also like to lounge, wade and swim at “The Slab,” a
popular gathering area on the Llano River, accessible on RR

VISIT LLANO COUNTY
Known as the “Deer Capital of Texas,” Llano County offers a wide variety of options for living, playing and
working.
Three dams create more than 55 miles of lakes on Llano County’s eastern border. Choose your waterway:
Llano River, Colorado River, Lake Buchanan, Inks Lake and Lake Lyndon B. Johnson – for countless
opportunities for water fun and miles of scenic beauty.
Tourist attractions include Enchanted Rock State Natural Area and the Bluebonnet Trail.
Communities in the county include:
• Kingsland, a vibrant and unincorporated community nestled at the confluence of the Llano and Colorado
Rivers
• Llano, the county seat and home to numerous festivals and events, such as the Crawfish Open, Rodeo,
Fiddle Fest and Llano Earth Art Fest. There’s a lively Main Street with shops and music venues, plus the
Llano County Historical Museum and Redtop Jail
• Horseshoe Bay, which straddles Llano and Burnet counties near the dam that creates Lake LBJ
• Buchanan Dam, an unincorporated community that is home to the Buchanan Arts and Crafts Guild and
Gallery — the oldest member-owned art co-op in Texas.
• Sunrise Beach, a quiet retirement village on the lake
• Castell, a small unincorporated community known for its laid-back vibe, general store and live music

KINGSLAND. You want to be in Kingsland.
The yellow lines outline the limits of the path of totality in each state. The green middle line represents the

the yellow lines. The closer you are to the green centerline, the longer totality will last. Areas outside the path

VISIT KINGSLAND
Kingsland boasts numerous spots to catch live music from locals and the growing scene of Hill Country
musicians. Boat Town Burger Bar, The Club Car Bar, Wakepoint LBJ and The Place Downtown provide
nighttime musical options.
Kingsland’s biggest event each year, AquaBoom, is one of the oldest continuously celebrated July Fourth
celebrations in Texas. The weeklong celebration includes three parades, pageants, a street dance, craft fair,
duck race, and, of course, a huge fireworks show.
Kingsland is home to The Antlers Hotel, a historic Victorian-style resort featuring a Queen Anne Style cottage
that served as the movie set for 1974’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and is now the home of Grand Central
Café. The Kingsland/Lake LBJ Chamber, building on that theme, has created a horror-themed event to attract
visitors to town each Fall.
On the Llano River just upstream from Kingsland, “The Slab” is a gathering point with pools of refreshing,
shallow water and lots of sand. It’s popular for wading, swimming with kids or just hanging out.
