PLANNING
The importance of planning in an
organization can always be
emphasized. It refers to a person's
ability to organize activities
according to established
standards while keeping within the
constraints of existing resources in
terms of time, money, and labour.
It's also the process of creating a
plan of activity or one or more
strategies to pursue and achieve
specific goals or objectives with
the skills and resources.
Anastasia, (2019) stated that, planning is considered a basic function of
management. It means that a plan is necessary for any other managerial
function, be it organising, directing, staffing, or controlling. Identifying and
setting achievable goals, developing appropriate strategies, and outlining
the activities and schedules for achieving the specified goals are all part of
the planning process. Without a good plan, little can be achieved.
In the movie of Coach Carter there are a few planning that Carter's created
to archive his goals. He is good on his planning skills to make sure his
student win a competition and success education.

PLANNING
SCENE 1
The parents and players were on the point of rejecting Carter's
contract. Change that is planned aligns the organization with
expected future complication. Coach Carter saw potential
problems and was prepared to deal with them. It was constantly
one step ahead of the team, knowing where the team's
strengths and weaknesses were. However, the transition was
managed by planning, his unique methods, dedication, and
loyalty. Coach Carter also inspires his player by telling them
that they have a brighter future and can achieve more success
if they work harder in school and on the basketball court. He
pushed the player to work harder by explaining the big picture
and how it would benefit them.

PLANNING
SCENE 2 Coach Carter and his planning and decision
to lock down the gym due to the player low
academic performance during a team
meeting. On the other hand, as a leader he
opportunities turns the tables and gives
them the statistics of what could happen if
they don't get a high school graduation and
a college degree, with incarceration being
one of the more gloomy outcomes. A
reminder that education is a critical aspect
to success, by asking them to look at the
reality of their current position in life and
decide if they're willing to work towards a
better one. Carter's shown his planning skills
and his strength to archive goals not only
for sport but also for their education
performance. Carter will be more motivated
to commit appropriate time and effort to
this aspect of his work if he understand the
major benefits of planning in management.
This will allow his player to reap the benefits
of excellent planning and efficiency.
5
PLANNING
SCENE 3
According to Coach Carter, players should always arrive to
practice on time. This is because his planning skills on time
management are important to make his student becoming more
discipline. When the practice are started at 3, every player should
come before 3. Arriving on time shows that the player care about
their teammates and coach. It also ensure that practice is kept on
track according to the practice schedule. Carter also said "(I'm
sure none of you practice without a plan... right?)". Aside from
that. the technique of planning and controlling how much time to
spend on various activities is known as time management. Good
time management allows an individual to accomplish more in less
time, reduces stress, and leads to professional success.
SCENE 4
Coach Carter playing a main roles on their respect toward player,
but the he stated that "when he shown respect to the player, they will
respect you back". Carter can allow their player called him "sir" for
terms of respects. The first thing Coach Carter does when he meets
with his players is greet one of them as "sir." While they appear to be
uncomfortable at first, they rapidly realized the necessity of treating
others with respect. His planning skills can help their player to be a
great player not only in the court but also in the future might come.
Directing is easier with a plan of action because it bases instructions,
encouragement, and motivation in a strategy.

LEADING ASPECT
SCENE 1 Carter gives each students a contract
during their first meet. In exchange for
playing, all students must attend class and
meet minimum academic requirements.
They won't be able to play if they don't sign.
The coach is clear that anyone who does
not meet the requirements of the contract
would be subjected to some form of
punishment or suspended from the team.
(Cairns, 2017). Coach Carter is an excellent
leader because he cares deeply about his
team. When no one else does, he
recognizes the potential in each person. He
pushes people for their own good, rather
than his own. When everyone was against
him, he showed selflessness and held
strong in his beliefs. His call for action has
had a significant impact and has turned
into a motivating
Coach Carter used a motivating strategy in SCENE 2
which he asked each player, "What is your
darkest fear?" He reminds them that people 8
are more terrified of being able to do
something than of not being able to do
anything, since doing something exposes us
to the risk of failure. If they succeed, it
indicates that they possess both the
capacity and the responsibility. He sets
everyone's differences aside and teaches
them that they will experience both success
and failure as a team. Carter believes that
effective teams win because of team
performance rather than individual
performance, that you are only as good as
your weakest link, and that successful
teams work together.
LEADING ASPECT
There is a well-known management adage that there is no "I" in team.
Carter guarantees that his team understands this by excluding everyone
from participating, level of educational achievement. He's explaining that
successful teams win because of teamwork rather than individual ability
because you're only as good as your weakest link, and successful teams
support each other. Coach Carter is all about having a vision for change
and following through on it despite opposition. Carter's conviction draws
others in, earning him respect and loyalty. And,
unlike many movies, there isn't a flawless athletic
conclusion. Instead, the win is celebrated off the
court, in the way the team has grown together
and changed their view and outlook on the future.
SCENE 3
The players express their anger with the
media attention around Coach Carter and
his decision to shut down the gym due to the
team's low academic performance during a
team meeting. The coach, on the other
hand, turns the tables and shows them the
statistics of what may happen if they don't
get a high school graduation and a college
degree, with jail being one of the most
gloomy outcomes. Carter puts his soldiers
back on track with his speech, which serves as a reminder that education
is a critical aspect in success, by asking them to look at the reality of
their current station in life and determine whether they're willing to work
towards a better one.

DISCUSSION FOR THE ASPECT
LEADING
Coach Carter show great leadership work as his
reponsibility as a leader. Coach carter is a motivated
and responsible leader, he was able to keep a certain
level of organization during the movie by planning his
practices. However. his responsible skills must be
highlighted as he always thinks ensure that the players
not only succeed in sports but also in academia and
join college. He also think about his team first before
his own benefits.
Leadership qualities are important in project management,
especially for leaders such as project managers, supervisors, and
site managers. Having a great leader will highlight the company's
strategy and direction. Leadership motivates people to perform
at a higher level by their excellent interpersonal relationships. it is
important for a leader to consider the non-verbal form of
expressions as well, which may positively or negatively influence
followers (Juneja 2015)
10
COMMUNICATING
The management and sharing of knowledge will become significantly
essential to react in real-time and, therefore, quicken conflict and
decision-making processes. The PM will not have to withhold project
details from the rest of the team. Information loses its worth as time
passes. To better manage critical issues and encourage the
establishment of a collaborative atmosphere, information should be
shared with all stakeholders. Project managers should design a
communication method as soon as possible to accomplish this objective
(Win et. al 2018)
SCENE 1 This scene is a first practice that
Coach Ken Carter (Coach Carter) will
conduct or manage the school’s
basketball team. The first time to
present as a new coach for the
basketball team. Coach Carter used
the word “Sir” every time he
addressed his student, which showed
us that every person needs to
address someone respectively. That
is why communication skill is
necessary for every single thing we
do to make sure the planning process
runs smoothly. The manager asked
one of the players if they did not
want to follow the rules made by the
coach, he would all of them but one
of the players refused to follow the
rules, and the coach asked him to
leave the court because he kept
talking back with the coach.
11
COMMUNICATING
The scene in this picture was shown when Coach Carter had a
conversation with his players. The players asked the coach about the
interview, and the coach explained how things work in real life and
their neighbourhood. The scene also showed how Coach Carter gave a
talk about what happens in the future to his players. Next, the coach
also explains by one by one or stats to the players. This communicating
can give the players more and make them keep calm and keep going
with their tournament. The manager shared the knowledge with all the
players that were curious and furious about what happened when the
tv station interviewed the coach. But coach shared the what exactly
happened at that moment.
SCENE 2
SCENE 3 The scene is when the team is falling apart
and losing focus in the game. So, the coach
took a time break and gave a speech to the
players. The speech made the players gain
more courage and follow the coach
strategies. Next, this is one of the types in
the top manager because he changes a
whole game and changes the players'
attitude when they feel down and
unmotivated. The top manager will think
quickly and make the decision rapidly to
solve the problems.
Furthermore, the players got benefits from
the speech and will continue the game with
new energy and ready to rumble again. The
scene's outcome is that good communication
skills will benefit the team. For example, the
team was lost but not easy to give up and
gave 100% in that match between Richmond
High School Vs St. Francis High School

CONCLUSION
Based on this movie, there are few of aspects related to project
management such as planning, motivating, leading, and communicating.
This every aspect is to ensure that person’s goal or objective of the project
can be successfully achieve and team members all have the same
understanding of what need to be done and It helps to specify what tasks
will be completed, who will be engaged in their completion, and when tasks
should begin and end. Project management is the primary tool for
executing the project plan, installing the construction process, and
achieving the strategic ambitions of the construction project. The role of
project management is to harmonize the functions of planning,
communicating, monitoring and control the project to meet this project’s
overall objective. To build a successful project plan, a team leader must
understand the project life cycle, risk, and risk management. Furthermore,
using the appropriate technology during process time estimation while
considering the iron triangle might help the project achieve its target.
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that
we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most
frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing
enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure
around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. It’s not just in some
of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously
give other people permission to do the same.As we are liberated from our
own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
