March 2021 Newsletter

Term Break

March 2021

Dear families,

We are already nearing the end of the first quarter of 2021! I hope you and your family
have settled well back into a relatively normal routine after the disruptions we all
experienced last year.

While the Kumon centres in Melbourne were closed during the recent lock down and
children did home study, we were able to have online classes on February 15th and 16th,
for all our students including the kinder and pre-kinder children. The team worked
throughout Saturday to come up with the schedule and all of them were in the online class
irrespective of them not being rostered for those days.

We are very proud of our capability to shift seamlessly and very thankful to the parents
who collected the worksheets on Friday and quickly adapted to the online classes.

Thanks, and looking forward to a wonderful term 2 with your support.

Centre Announcements

Change of Centre Name for Kumon Berwick South

There is no definite update on the readiness of Bridgewater community centre from the Casey Council, and hence we will
continue our operations in Manna Gum Community centre and will be renamed as ‘Kumon Clyde North’. This will not affect
the current operations in anyway, and we are very confident of our ability to service both Berwick South and Clyde North
regions.

We are extremely grateful to our existing parents from Berwick South who supported this move, and we understand that this
does pose inconvenience in terms of distance, however this move is circumstantial owing to availability of premises. We
assure you that we will continue to provide greater service and looking forward to your continued support.

Kumon Holidays

March 8th, 2021 (Public Holiday)
April 2nd – April 7th (Easter Holidays / Term Holidays)
Worksheets will be provided during holidays and Kumon centres will remain closed on all public holidays like any other
organizations. There are no makeup classes in Kumon for holidays and missed classes. Kumon fees is derived on monthly
basis as an average and is inclusive of all holidays and not on per session basis. We are reiterating regarding fees and
holidays for the benefit of new parents.

Homework Collection

✓ Worksheets will be provided on fortnight or monthly basis.
✓ We request parents to provide us 5 days’ notice for the next set of worksheets to be organized.
✓ Children should have the ‘worksheet pack’ in their bag always so we can adjust classwork and homework.

✓ Parents of younger children should ensure the homework is done as per the sequence number specified in the left

corner of the worksheets.

Evan’s Kumon Journey

Evan is in grade 1 and he joined us in mid-January of this year. Evan is a shy
child, and he was very reluctant during the assessment and was not very
confident with the number sequences. We started him in 5A, and the parent
understood why we had to start with an easy starting point for Evan.

Kumon provided a safe and supportive environment for Evan that he gradually
improved both his attitude towards learning and soon he was happy to do 2
worksheets in the class. We kept increasing the challenges and we are very
proud to say that Evan is now in level 2A and will comfortably reach his grade
level by end of this month.

By September, Evan will start Grade 2 with us thus becoming an advanced student. The biggest reward for us was when the
parent told us that ‘We knew Evan is very capable and was very disheartened when no one else thought or believed so and we
are very happy to receive this acknowledgement from Kumon’.

What we do in Kumon is more than teaching, we act as coaches, mentors and individualise the study plan to bring the best out
of every child. We do understand that every child is different and there is no one strategy or one perfect method. We believe
that we need to be patient until every child can have that turning point and build confidence in themselves that they can.

Kumon Program Completer

Hrishikesh Harish

Hrishi is in Grade 7 and he completed the mathematics program which includes VCE portions last month. This is the highest
achievement in Kumon. Having completed both Mathematics and English program, Hrishi has set himself for a greater ATAR
score in VCE. We are very proud of you Hrishi.
