“No man is an island entire of itself;
Every man a piece of the continent, a part of the main;
Any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind;
And therefore, never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for

thee.’

John Donne 1573– 1631

ANDREW MENTIS FUND

4 February 2018—The Els Club

One of the most important objectives and raison d’etre associated with Nomads
Golf is the collective spirit displayed by all Club Members towards raising funds for
charitable purposes and for recognising “those less fortunate than ourselves”.
In line with this the Andrew Mentis Nomads Foundation was created to channel
the funds generated for distribution to worthwhile causes on a project-by-project
basis. Each member club forms an Andrew Mentis sub-committee, which is
chaired by the Vice-Captain. This years Vice Captain Nico Maluleke selected the
Mamelodi Old Age Home as the beneficiary. Nico did a fantastic job of arranging
112 participants to play in this years AMEF golf day at Copperleaf and this was
supported by Nomads and guests alike. The weather was a cracker. Sponsors were
generous as were those who participated in the auction run by Alan Pennel (great
job) and the evening was superb with a jazz band from Mamelodi playing their
merry tunes. Well done Nico and thanks to all who supported!
