DESIGN & BRANDING
At JMF Group we understand that good brand management analysis and planning can reveal how a brand is actually perceived in its sector. Good brand management also includes developing an excellent relationship with a brand’s target market, with tangible elements of this including the product itself - by which we mean things such as look, price, packaging and so on. The intangible elements, however, are the experience that the consumer has with the brand, as well as the relationship they have with it. Our brand managers therefore oversee all aspects of consumer brand association, including relationships with members of the supply chain.

CASE STUDY | UNCLE SAM’S
This all-new, Redcar-based American diner was
a designer’s dream project, especially as we were brought in at the very early stages, with a requirement for naming options being part of our initial brief.
Our team of designers presented a range names and logo ideas, and once a route had been selected we set about creating the Uncle Sam’s brand. This was inspired by ‘50s Americana and involved us producing table menus, wall and window graphics, as well as a wide range of promotional materials to help make Uncle Sam’s grand opening a huge success.
Since then, the diner has proved to be so popular that there are plans in the pipeline for further sites to be opened soon.

Developments in printing technology include the movable type invented by Bi Sheng around 1040 AD and the printing press invented by Johannes Gutenberg in the 15th century. The technology of printing played a key role in the development of the Renaissance and the scientific revolution, and laid the material basis for the modern knowledge-based economy and the spread of learning to the masses.

STADIUM BRANDING
CASE STUDY |
JOHN SMITHS STADIUM HUDDERSFIELD
THE BRIEF
The JMF team was invited to take part in this project by Sodexo Prestige, the company responsible for maintaining the John Smith Stadium, following a recommendation by a third-party organisation for whom we had recently completed a similar job.
Our brief was to look at a full rebrand of all kiosks throughout the stadium.
OUR RESPONSE
Our design department produced ideas for a creative approach that would appeal not just to Huddersfield’s football spectators, but to all users of the ground as the John Smith Stadium is also home to the local rugby league club.
The eventual outcome was a quirky, fresh- menu style based around photography that we
combined with a twist of product illustration.
CONSTRUCTION
• 90 meters of 3mm composite aluminium material.
• Cut by vertical panel saw.
• Image perfect 2556 GL white grey back vinyl. • Vinyl applied by RollsRoller flatbed.
• JMF’s fitting team to install across 2 days.
RESULT
Following our work at the John Smith Stadium we have been invited to rebrand three other major stadia for Everton FC, Newcastle United FC and Leeds Rhinos RLFC.

MOTION GRAPHICS
Motion graphics are pieces of digital footage or animation which create the illusion of motion or rotation, and are usually combined with audio for use in multimedia projects. Motion graphics are usually displayed via electronic media technology, but may also be displayed via manual powered technology (e.g. thaumatrope, phenakistoscope, stroboscope, zoetrope, praxinoscope, flip book). The term distinguishes still graphics from those with a transforming appearance over time, without over-specifying the form.[1] While any form of experimental or abstract animation can be called motion graphics, the term typically more explicitly refers to the commercial application of animation and effects to video, film, TV, and interactive applications.

Using blueprints, photographs, drawings or other reference sources, our highly skilled team can re- create your products in 3D.
These assets can then be used to generate superb, high-resolution marketing materials and animations which integrate your products seamlessly into today’s digital world.
MOTION GRAPHICS
If a professional photoshoot is too expensive for your budget, then our team of 3D modelling wizards can conjure up photorealistic imagery of your product from thin air.
Using cutting-edge technology and the latest in computer software, our team can build your product as a 3D model which we can reproduce at any angle, with any lighting effect, making it perfect to use in your marketing materials.
If you’d like to take it a step further, we can animate the 3D model of your product, creating spectacular motion graphics which you can utilise on social media sites, in on-site digital screens, or in regional and national TV advertising.

CASE STUDY | MYMO
MYMO is a brand new company that has recently developed an innovative app-based solution for runners, athletes and sports professionals.
The app analyses running styles then collates data through the use of a specialist sock which the user wears whilst running. The data is then communicated visually and graphically by the app via a smartphone or tablet.
THE BRIEF
To generate a wire frame 3D model of a realistic human foot which can then be animated to replicate Pronation, Supination, etc., to highlight the pros, cons and dangers of the user’s running style. The app then communicates the findings through the animations to give the athlete a better understanding of their needs and what kind of footwear they require.
THE RESULT
MYMO told us they were overwhelmed with the finished product as the level of animation we delivered replicated real Pronation, Supination, etc. so accurately.
The quality we achieved surpassed the expectations of their low budget and they are now looking to expand the app into other forms of sports science.

SIGNAGE
Signage is the design or use of signs and symbols to communicate a message to a specific group, usually for the purpose of marketing or a kind of advocacy. Signs are any kind of visual graphics created to display information to a particular audience. This is typically manifested in the form of wayfinding information in places such as streets or on the inside and outside buildings. Signs vary in form and size based on location and intent, from more expansive banners, billboards, and murals, to smaller street signs, street name signs, sandwich boards and lawn signs. Newer signs may also use digital or electronic displays.

The Brief
High street retailer Pound Store wanted to give their identity a facelift. So they approached us to set the wheels in motion, both to create the new branding for all of their stores and to apply it. We were tasked to produce internally illuminated aluminium signage, as well as reverse-applied frosted logos and lettering for shop windows and doors. Double-sided foamex hanging signs were required for inside the stores, with projecting signage to the exterior.
Our Response
The client wanted a fast turn-around, so our
fitting teams wasted no time in completing a comprehensive site survey, which included taking accurate measurements and photographs. With plenty of reference to hand, the design team could provide visuals for client approval and final artwork. The print and fabrication teams could then get to work bringing the concepts to life and producing a high-quality finished product. From the creation of the initial brand guidelines to final sign off took no more than 10 days.
Construction
Technical specification included:
• Aperture-cut 1050-grade aluminium fabricated returns using brakepress powder-coated RAL 5002
• Apertures backed with 3mm LED-grade opal 050

The Brief
We were given the opportunity to collaborate with and offer our services to the Easy brand after we were recommended by another of our clients, Poundland. Thanks to their strong endorsement we were able to help build the Easy Coffee brand, the latest in the parent company’s portfolio, by completing a full site survey, followed by sign proofing, pricing, manufacturing and installing an entire site in Sutton.
OUR RESPONSE
As we say, we love a challenge - and after being given a strict deadline to adhere to it was a case of all hands on deck right from the very start. Throughout the sign design process we complied with stated brand corporate guidelines, then on the day of installation we ensured that our most experienced in-house fitting team was on site to make sure that all went well.
CONSTRUCTION
Technical specification included:

bargain buys big brands, big discounts
The Brief
We were asked to create a new brand for a high street retailer, and after hours of brainstorming we came up with what is now the Bargain Buys brand. Once the brand had been established we were given three months to survey over 50 sites, then design, proof, manufacture and install signage for them all.
The RESPONSE
As store opening dates had already been set, we needed to meet every single deadline in order
to be successful. Thankfully, our highly efficient procedures ensured that everything ran smoothly with no hiccups along the way.
Construction
To date we have we have completed 65 sites for Bargain Buys using two different types of sign, either a flex box or aperture-cut pans.
Flex Box:
• 6m lengths of extruded aluminium
• Lengths power coated brand guidelines
• Painted lengths fixes together using corner brackets, back support, brace sections backed off with stucco aluminium sheet
• 5yr guarantee module LED’s
Aperture cut pans:
• 10 50 grade aluminium
• Aperture cut on CNC router
• Fabricated using 3m break press, corners welded using MIG on pulse setting
• Panels powered coated to corporate brand guidelines colour with speciality finish
Result
As a result of completing so many sites nationally we have been able to build a strong working relationship with our client who has since asked us to produce all their print work, including posters and flyers.

Characteristics
Cutting
Based on the differences in electronically controlled cutting equipment and font characteristics, users should determine their own cutting and weeding capability.
These factors can affect cutting quality and ability:
 Sharpness of the knife blade. Dull blades create a serrated look to the cut edge of the film.
 Weight on the knife blade. The ideal weight slightly scores the liner. Too little weight does not cut completely through the film and the adhesive. Excessive weight cuts the liner. It also causes the blade to drag, accelerating wear and eventually creating a serrated cut edge on the film.
Premasking and Prespacing
The 3M Prespacing or Prespacing Tape you use depends on the type of graphic produced and the overprint clear system. For graphics that have large amounts of exposed liner, use a prespacing application tape. If there is very little exposed liner, use a premasking application tape.
Application
Note: Use the dry application method when possible.
1. Follow the dry application methods in Instruction Bulletin 5.5, Release C-EU, Effective April 2000 or later.
2. Be sure that the film is applied at temperatures  8°C.
Maintenance and Cleaning
If pressure washing is used, do not wash at a distance less than 30 cm and point the nozzle perpendicular to the body of the vehicle. Do not wash with a pressure higher than 80 bar.
CAUTION
When using any equipment, always follow the manufacturers’ instructions for safe operation.

KEEPING IN SYNC WITH RECENT TRENDS IN TECHNOLOGY?
Digital Management Systems Single & Multiscreen Advertising
At JMF Group we always like to keep our clients abreast of any innovative new developments to ensure we can offer them the very latest in signage solutions. Which is why we’d like to introduce our single and multi-screen digital management system.
Our digital screens can display over individual or multiple units and have the availability to exhibit single graphics or use a multi-screen set-up to join numerous screens together, thereby displaying over a larger spread. And when a client utilises our digital screens they are assigned a dedicated account handler who manages everything from queries to asset control and scheduling.
The truth of the matter is, having digital screens offers you and your business a level of freedom
and versatility which print often can’t. For example, with JMF’s personalised online scheduling platform you can view your playback schedule, contact your account handler and upload new assets, all at the touch of a button. What’s more, our online scheduling platform is divided into time slots (which are dependent on your chosen price plan). This platform provides a column for each day of the week, which is colour coded in your playlist into which digital display assets are grouped.
