2 MADIHAH MOHD SAUDI born on 18th August 1978 at Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. She graduated from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Malaysia with a Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) in 2001, Master in Software Engineering from Universiti Malaya (UM), Malaysia in 2006 and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Computer Security from Bradford University, the United Kingdom in 2011. In terms of competency, she holds two professional certifications in Cybersecurity from the United States: Certified GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC), SANS Institute and Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), ECCouncil. As for her professional membership, she is a senior member of the IEEE Computer Society (from 2013) and IEEE Sensors Council (from 2017) from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a Technology Specialist (Ts) from Lembaga Teknologis Malaysia (MBOT) and a Panel of the Accreditation Technology and Technical (TTAC), MBOT. She is also an IEEE technical committee member on Cyber Security, Security and Privacy; and Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence. She started her career as an academician, in the year 2006, as a lecturer at the Information & Security Assurance (ISA) Programme, Faculty of Science & Technology (FST), Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM). She was then appointed as a senior lecturer in 2010 and Associate Professor in 2015 until 2022. From 2023 until now, she is appointed as a Professor. In 2012, she was appointed as the Head Programme of ISA for 6 months and subsequently as Deputy Dean (Academic & Research) for 6 years at FST, USIM. In 2018, she became the Deputy Dean (Research & Innovation) at FST, USIM, and Chief Information Officer (CIO) from 2019 to 2022. Prior to her career as an academician, she was a Computer Forensic Analyst at CyberSecurity Malaysia (formerly known as National ICT Security Emergency Response Center (NISER)) in the year 2001. She was then appointed as the Manager for the Honeynet Project (2002) and subsequently as Virus Analyst (second level expert analyst support for Malaysia Computer Emergency Response Team (MyCERT)).


3 During her administrative position at FST, Master ISA (Mix Mode) has been successfully granted full accreditation, in which, two new double degree programs namely Bachelor Degree Quran and Sunnah & Bachelor Degree ISA and Bachelor Degree Food Biotechnology and Bachelor Degree Fiqh & Fatwa were introduced (2016) and the preparation and completion of its full accreditation document submission for 6 programs at FST (2017). In terms of research and innovation, she constantly shares her experience with other colleagues, provides guidelines when needed, and conducts coaching sessions on pitching products during an innovation competition. Since 2013, FST lecturers have published in numerous journals and have bagged various research awards and grants from local and international resources. For writing enculturation, she introduced the coffee table session in the year 2018 at FST and was held every Friday morning. During this session, senior and junior lecturers will sit and write together an article in ‘protective writing time’. In terms of her achievement from the teaching and learning (T&L) perspective, since 2006, she was graded more than 97% for her E-Nilai, by her undergraduate and postgraduate students. In 2019, she was listed among the Top 100 Lecturers in USIM based on E-Nilai grading. Her high energy and the tremendous effort she put forth to communicate scientific methods, discoveries, theories and concepts to her students have made all the difference in their levels of achievement in their courses and general studies. During her T&L, she always shares her industrial experience and relates it with real-world solutions, makes learning more accessible and emphasizes practical skills to her students. Furthermore, she has invited industry key players in Cybersecurity during her lecture and conducted a few industry site visits with her students. her students.


4 Her philosophy towards teaching has been primarily influenced by her educational background, work experience and excellent mentorship from various academicians that she has received over the years. As a result, her teaching is grounded in using current tools and techniques that are widely used in cybersecurity areas. Apart from that, during her T&L, she uses effective feedback for learning, which includes educative feedback, feedback reference on specific knowledge, alternate due dates, and peer conferencing. Effective feedback learning helps her aid students in their academic and social growth and smoothen the overall learning process. Furthermore, it leads to proficiency in several learning areas such as the depth and breadth of skills in the specific cybersecurity area, the ability to communicate complex ideas understandably and develop feasible solutions to problems using a logic-oriented approach. In terms of supervision, she has successfully produced and graduated 11 PhD students and 4 Master students until 2022. Currently, they hold different positions locally and internationally. She is an exceptionally innovative, competent and highly motivated lecturer who keeps her undergraduate and postgraduate students enthralled with her compelling arguments and well-documented research. She has a remarkable ability to stimulate students with her dynamic teaching style. Moreover, in acknowledging her knowledge and credibility in academics, at the national level, she has been appointed to the Panel of Accreditation Technology and Technical (TTAC), MBOT, external MQA evaluator at Universiti Malaya for Master Programme in Information Security, and external examiners for Master and PhD at Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UNISZA), University of Malaya (UM), Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn (UTHM) and Multimedia Universit (MMU). While at the international level, she has been invited as Visiting Professor at Samarkand Tashkent University of Technology (SAMTUIT), Uzbekistan, in the year 2016 and Visiting Professor at Widayatama University, Indonesia, in the year 2021. At the SAMTUIT, she has been invited to share her knowledge in building an academic program for undergraduate and master level for cybersecurity content and to share her expertise on mobile security. While at Widaytama University, she has been invited for research collaboration, especially in the CyberSecurity field. In 2021 until now, she is appointed as the Honorary Research Fellow at CyberSecurity Center, University Bristol, United Kingdom.


5 She has conducted fascinating research over the last fifteen years at USIM, particularly in Cybersecurity, specifically on malware, mobile security and machine learning. She is passionate about malware and mobile security and her passion is contagious as year after year, she mentors students who successfully turn in award-winning research. Her vast array of cybersecurity knowledge and her experiences with speaking and pitching talent shines like a diamond in the sky. In 2017, her research team bagged gold and a special award for a cybersecurity product called EzSiber at the International Conference and Exposition on Inventions by Institutions of Higher Learning (PECIPTA). Apart from that, she had won gold, silver and bronze medals at the British Invention Show (BIS), International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition (ITEX), Ekspo Inovasi Islam (i-INOVA) since she enrolled in USIM. Thus, her expertise is recognized locally and internationally. Just as important as innovation, she has also published numerous publications. She has produced a total of 133 publications until July 2021. This includes 68 refereed journals, with 58.8% as the main author/ corresponding author. As part of that, she has produced 3 books entitled: Integration of Naqli and Aqli FST, Kesedaran Keselamatan Siber: 101 Penganalisaan Ancaman Siber and Outcome-Based Education: Introduction and Implementation Guidelines. Furthermore, her subject matter expert areas have been well-received and have made a significant impact in defending against malware attacks on different technology platforms and applying machine learning theories in diverse research fields such as environmental safety and water safety. For the more significant impact and practicality of her research, she works closely with industries such as CyberSecurity Malaysia(CSM), National Security Agency (NACSA) Malaysia, Netbyte Sec and Map2u and researchers from other public universities such as UM, UPM, UTHM and UTEM in bidding national and international grants in different research areas. In 2021, she is appointed as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for System Development for Malaysia Urban Observatory (MUO) in data analytics by Map2u (granted RM28 million). She has been granted with Prototype Development Research Grant (PRGS) from the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), a grant from the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and a grant from the National Hydraulic Research Institute of Malaysia (NAHRIM). She secured a total of 30 grants totalling RM2,373,805 until July 2021 and is responsible as 13 Principal Investigators (PI). In 2020 and 2018, USIM awarded her as Best Researcher in Science and


6 Technology Award and as the Top 100 Researcher in USIM. At the international level, she has been invited as a Judge for the International Academic Competitions and Exhibitions 2019 and 2020, Indonesia. In addition, she has been appointed as the Advisory Committee Chair at the 2nd International Conference on Data Processing Algorithms and Models (ICDPAM 2021), Dec. 17th-19th, 2021, Guangzhou, China. In 2018 and 2017, she was the Track Chairman in Smart Environment, IEEE 6th & 7th International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud (FiCloud18 & FiCloud19), Barcelona and Turkey. Collectively, these effective measures suggest that she has mature and productive research ideas. Her research, innovation and publication are credible, rational and theoretically sound of value to the industry and public policymakers. In terms of public tutelage, she appeared several times in newspapers News Strait Times (NST) and The Star as a subject matter expert in the cybersecurity area to express her opinion on the current cybersecurity issues such as cashless security challenges, face app security exploitation, cyberbully, PDPA to secure consumer privacy and the security challenge for national ID. Additionally, in the Bernama newspaper, she wrote 2 articles on Mysejahtera privacy issues and USIM Smart University Blueprint (Al-Jamiah AlMubarakah ). She has also been invited as a speaker for World-Class Professor UNIMMA 2020 on security challenges from IoT and waste management perspectives. She has also been invited as a keynote speaker at several international conferences on security topics at the international level. She is an advisor at Swiss Innovation Valley, Switzerland, for the cybersecurity area. She is also an advisor for Master CyberSecurity Programme at Universiti Pertahanan Malaysia(UPNM) and an external reviewer for Bachelor Computer Science(Cybersecurity) Programme at Universiti Malaysia Pahang. She is also a committee member for Cybersecurity Akademia Malaysia (CSAM), as Deputy Director for CSAM(2021-2022) and currently as Deputy Secretary for CSAM(2023- 2024). CSAM is an organization that gathers all security professionals and lecturers in Malaysia from public and private universities.

11 Cyber Security – Public Intellectual – 43 Facts on Madihah Mohd Saudi. 1) She was appointed as Visiting Professor at Samarkand Tashkent University of Technology (SAMTUIT), Uzbekistan, in 2016. She shared her expertise on malware and mobile security and her experience in curriculum development of a Bachelor Degree In Information Security & Assurance (ISA) based on her experience for 6 years as Deputy Dean (Academic & Research), Faculty of Science & Technology (FST), USIM. 2) She has been a Senior Member of the IEEE Computer Society since 2013 and is a Senior Member of the IEEE Sensors Council from 2017 until now. She was responsible to develop a dashboard for water management at Timah Tasoh, Perlis (based on her machine learning expertise) and developing a governance plan for water management (based on her experience in risk management and analysis by using PESTLE).

36 33) She was responsible to implement the integration of Naqli & Aqli at the Faculty Science & Technology (FST) with 4 mustawa(level) in teaching & learning (T&L) in the year 2014 and documented it in a book entitled: Integration of Naqli and Aqli: Faculty of Science and Technology. She also documented the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) system she developed for FST in a book entitled: Outcome-Based Education: Introduction and Implementation Guideline in the year 2017. During her position as Deputy Dean(Academic & Research), FST has successfully granted with Anugerah Naib Canselor(best faculty award) in the year 2012 & 2016.


37 URL: Integrating Naqli and Aqli (nst.com.my) 34) During her position as CIO, from 2019-2022 at USIM, the contributions were as follows: ▪ A new system of attendance online for USIM’s staff has been introduced. ▪ A guideline for e-learning has been developed, and e-learning has been fully integrated among lecturers to ease teaching & learning (T&L). ▪ Guidelines for data management which includes of: Garis Panduan Pengawal Data Berkembar, Garis Panduan Pengurusan dan Pengiraan Kos ICT and Garis Panduan Pengurusan Data USIM. ▪ A revised version of Garis Panduan ICT USIM and Dasar keselamatan ICT USIM have been endorsed during her position as the CIO. ▪ The crowdfunding portal Jom Infaq under Pusat Wakaf & Zakat(PWZ) was successfully developed in 2020. ▪ ICT Strategic Plan (ISP) 2021-2025 and Smart University Blueprint (AlJamiah Al-Mubarakah) were successfully delivered in 2021. ▪ Dashboard Pelangi development completed August 2021 for Universiti Top Management (JKPU), USIM. She is also responsible for USIM recognition locally and internationally from 2021 (MyMOHES, MyRA, SETARA, and QS Ranking) by developing the dashboard for data centralization.
