Sebastian Elanjickal CMI Principal NOVEMBER - DECEMBER 2022 Vol - XII Issue - 3 Pencil tips PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE NEWS LETTER “An adventure is only an inconvenience rightly considered. An inconvenience is only an adventure wrongly considered.” - G.K. Chesterton Dear Christites, For many 'success' is achieving personal goals, whatever they may be. Because the goals are sef-created, what people view as success can vary, depending on their needs, goals, and situation. Success is often defined as the ability to reach your goals in life, whatever those goals may be. There are many different tactics for how to be successful in life, but the strategy that works best for you may depend on what success means to you. If you think of success as doing well at work or earning a high salary, your professional goals and accomplishments will take priority. While professional success can be one piece of the puzzle, it leaves out many other important areas of life. Family, relationships, academics, and athletics are just a few areas where people may strive for success. However the definition of success may vary, many might define it as being fulfilled, happy, safe, healthy, and loved. There is no single right way to be successful. What works for you might not work for someone else. There may not be a perfect combination of ingredients that can guarantee success. Still, there are some basic steps you can follow that can improve your chances of being successful in life, love, work, or whatever happens to be important to you. According to famous research psychologist, Carol Dweck there are two basic mind-sets that influence how people think about themselves and their abilities: the fixed mind-set and the growth mind-set. People who possess a fixed mind-set believe that things such as intelligence are static and unchangeable, and that success isn't a result of hard work—it's simply a consequence of innate talents. Those who have a growth mind-set, on the other hand, feel that they can change, grow, and learn through effort. People who believe that they are capable of growth are more likely to achieve success. When things get tough, they look for ways to improve their skills and keep working toward success. People with a growth mind-set believe that they have control of their life, while those with a fixed mind-set believe that things are out of their control. A person with a growth mind-set believes that effort and hard work can lead to meaningful growth and when faced with a challenge he looks for ways to develop the knowledge and skills that he needs to overcome and triumph. He considers failures as valuable source of experience from which he can learn and improve. Remember, there is no single measure of success, and certainly no single answer for how to be successful in life. Yet by looking at some of the habits of successful people, you can learn new tactics and strategies to implement in your own daily life. Cultivate and nurture these abilities, and over a time you may find that you are better able to reach your goals and achieve the success you want in life. That's why it is said 'SUCCESS is YOU'; let's thrive and attain success in all what we want to achieve.
TEACHER'S CORNER Being the very best in your chosen field is, paradoxically, a matter of accepting your limitations. A book excerpt by Harvard Business School's Laura Nash and Howard Stevenson. Success is not just measured based on one's absolute achievements or tremendous meticulous spirit but in anticipating failures as well. How willing am I to accept the change, anticipate disappointments, and execute an alternate strategy is what determines success. What is the right measure of success in your eyes? How can I contribute to my school? Is being really successful inevitably a matter of being the best, highest, youngest, richest, smartest, and prettiest on every scale you know? Such standards are maximized forms of accomplishment. Simply put, maximization is any form of going for the extreme—genius, intelligence, superhuman effort, a unique lifestyle, and the most profit possible. Therefore Maximized versions of success are more superficial and unrealistic. In reality its “Be all that you can be” It's the possibility of accomplishing realistic goals that highlights success rather than committing to unrealistic goals leading to greater disappointments and misery. If you really want to live an actualized, satisfying and successful life, give up on the standards of maximization and give in to simple goals at first to reach much greater realistic goals in future. “Start Small to Start Big” Dear Christites, Hard work is doing work very seriously by putting maximum needed efforts. It is completing a task with honesty. Hard work makes the way to success. It is tough to do hard work but it is important to make our life smooth. A hardworking person is always happy in life. Success is the result of hard work. The person who works hard achieves many things in life. People always love him. He is always respected by everyone. Every one of us has goals in life. To fulfill the goals we need to be hard working. Sitting idly does not help fulfilling one's aim. We all must respect the chance we get in life. Respecting the chance means doing hard work. We must not fear failure. Failure is natural to our life. When we fail, we must not stop working hard. We all should believe in ourselves and keep trying hard until we achieve our aims. We can work hard if we have the determination and focus in life. Concentration in work is very important. If one concentrates fully while doing work, the work gets finished successfully and very soon. We must work to increase our concentration level. Hard work is very much important to develop our concentration power. So, dear students, Success is the offspring of hard work and determination. Success will not be born. In order to be successful in life, an individual has to set up goals and work for them. Many people will do the first part - setting the goal right, but they forget the main part - working for it. Ms. Vinitha J V COUNSELORS' DESK “Success is a journey not a destination.” Success can be defined in many ways. Every person has different approach towards this term. To many success seems to come suddenly, but for others it takes a lot of hard work. According to me the definition of success varies from person to person. For ex: for some it means to get all the materialistic pleasure in life like a car, a big house and good bank balance. And for some it means to have a healthy body, a loving family and unbreakable relations. Love your work and you will never find it burden or you will never run after getting a sabbatical. As said by Steve jobs, "sometime life hits you in the head with a brick, don't lose faith. I am convinced that the only thing that kept me going (after being fired from Apple) was that I lived what I did. You've got to find what you love and until you find keep looking. Don't settle. Opportunities come and go. They are not bound to us but we are the one who have to grab them at the right time. Some people nag and they keep going in this phase but they forget that by doing so they are making themselves lack of time, opportunity, intelligence and wisdom. People need to understand that "failure is the key to success "And yes it is, I truly believe in this concept. We learn a lot of things from our failures. As James Joyce said "Mistakes are the portals of discovery". Therefore, we should also cherish failures and learn from them. Success doesn't mean to be a doctor or an entrepreneur. What you are; you should be the best in that. So dear children follow your passion and stay true to yourself because “Success is you”. Ms. Nazia Banu S EDITOR'S DESK Ms. Smitha K L 2

Science has a huge impact not just on our actions, but also on what we think. It answers “the whys and hows”, which unlocks ideas and solves unknown mysteries. By introducing science education at school level, we aim to inculcate reasoning and critical thinking skills. By encouraging our children to understand the need behind any action that occurs, be it in nature or in society, we ensure that these future citizens are judicious and logically oriented. Activitybased learning and team ventures like science exhibition promotes team work and receptivity to diverse ideas. As the world continues to grow, we must equip ourselves with latest technology and stay updated. Every country must have state-of-art mechanism and advanced expertise to be a superpower. STUDENTS' CORNER “Your success and happiness lies in you. – Hellen Keller” Success is something everyone longs for. All think, being successful means to be a famous celebrity, artist, politician, businessman etc with all the luxurious stuff like car, money and all . But what is success really and where it is ?... success means to achieve our goal or aim and not try to live a life like that of others and this success is actually in us . If we belief we can do it, we can be successful. We can make our own path to success. At certain times we are so desperate to be successful that we forget that the most basic things that brings success are hardwork, dedication, desire to achieve our dream and mainly to believe in ourselves, ultimately all we have to do to have success beside us is to believe that we are success and we can do it , but only if we believe in ourselves. Harshitha. R, Std. 10C “The key to success is to focus on goals, not obstacles.” One of the most important factor to achieve success is to focus on goals. If you are not focused, it would be impossible for you to decipher what you need to reach your goals. There will be undoubtedly many obstacles, but you need to overcome them. To overcome these obstacles you need to stay strong. This completely depends on “YOU” that is your mindset. The other important factor that success depends on is hard work. Hardwork is the key to success. Hardwork doesn't mean that you do laborious work or the work that makes you sweat. It means that having a healthy body, will-power and positive attitude towards your life .It is also imperative to focus on your body and soul. Besides this, it also important for you to be disciplined, obedient, punctual and give respect to others. Along with this mainly it is necessary to be confident. These qualities help you to build a very good character which determines whether you can achieve goals or not. Success is like a seed that needs a balanced proportion of all elements of life . Shrujana Reddy . M, Std. 9D “The biggest wall you have to climb is the one you build in your mind. Never let your mind talk you out of your dreams, trick you into giving up. Never let your mind become the greatest obstacle to success. Get your mind on the right track, the rest will follow.” Whether a child, youth or the aged, at each and every stage of our wide life span, it is our inbuilt desire to be successful. Success is liking yourself, being confident in yourself, believing you can and throwing any thought of failure aside. Success is you. True success should be measured by how happy you are. Success eventually will be yours when you strive towards your dreams and keep believing that achieving the 'impossible' is actually possible. Success is always doing your best. Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam said, “Without your involvement you can't succeed. With your involvement you can't fail.” Success lies in you. Success is you. It is achieved with hard work and strive. Dreams+ Hard work+ Dedication+ God= SUCCESS. Jiny Biju, Parent of Chrisha Mary Biju, Std. 5A 21 OUR YOUNG ARTISTS Thanvitha Shree, Std.I B Ahmed G, Std. IV B Prisha Joanna C H, Std. ALUMNI 23 “Success doesn't just find you. You have to go out and get it.” The Third Edition of 'The Newsletter – Pencil Tips' enables us to focus on the theme “Success is You”. In today's world everyone wants to be successful but what is a success. The perspective of success varies from person to person. Moreover, people compare different people performance to evaluate their success. But success is not something that you can copy from others. You have to make your own path to achieving success. As success is the feeling of fulfilment that you feel when you achieve your goal. In this edition, we present you the glimpse of an eventful month of November and December wherein our students explored their talent, potential and creativity. We also enable you to know that the secret of success is an “I can attitude” showcased by the students. Dear readers, kindly read and celebrate the success of our students. Memories have been the part and parcel of my life, much like everyone else. One of the good memories in my life is definitely of the school life. My memories of Christ school go back to 1990's. My school life was surely a learning experience. The confidence and motivation it gave me, I couldn't get anywhere else. Most importantly, it is the place where I recognized my uniqueness and individuality. My school life is no less than a treasure for me which gave me invaluable joys in life. I fondly remember my Kannada teacher Mr. Venkatesh H R for his encouragement in literature to me. I was encouraged to represent the school in Kannada poetry and essay competition. And I also remember Mr. Thomas S T for inculcating the mathematical skills in me. I was in Red house and I remember the inter house competitions and the prizes that I won in sports and dance. Christ school has nurtured a lot of discipline and moral values in me and I have a lot regards to all my teachers. The things I have learned over the course of my school life at Christ School will always stay with me forever. As we all know that the first and last day of our school life is the most memorable days. I entered my school weeping and even while leaving, I have the same tears in my eyes. The difference being the former was for not wanting to go and the latter is for not wanting to leave. The knowledge, experience and memories, I owe it all to my incredible school life at Christ School. Dr USHA B . R.
