About the Immigration File of Rutgers University Alumna Hyejeong Shin - #Michael A. Ayele (a.k.a) W - #Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Request Case No.: 2023 – ICFO – 23335
The Association for the Advancement of Civil Liberties (AACL) has on May 08th 2023 filed an appeal with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for their processing of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) they had assigned Case No.: 2023 – ICFO – 23335. It is the judgment of the AACL that the DHS (ICE) processing of the FOIA request that was assigned Case No.: 2023 – ICFO – 23335 was inconsistent with their previous processing of the FOIA request they had assigned Case No.: 2020 – ICFO – 82819 because of their failure to make clear the exact nature of the formal/informal ties they have with Rutgers University (located in New Jersey). As you maybe aware, the DHS (ICE) had disclosed the Petition for Approval of School for Attendance by Nonimmigrant Student filed by Westminster College (Fulton, Missouri) during the processing of the FOIA request that had been assigned Case No.: 2020 – ICFO – 82819. However, during the processing of the FOIA request that was assigned Case No.: 2023 – ICFO – 23335, the DHS (ICE) have thus far opted not to be entirely forthcoming about the Petition for Approval of School Attendance by Nonimmigrant Student filed by Rutgers University.
The AACL has recently expressed dissatisfaction with the DHS (ICE) processing of FOIA requests as a direct consequence of their decision to [1] engage the Los Angeles Times in discussions about the immigration status of David DePape; [2] remain coy on the subject of the prison rape suffered by women (originally) from Mexico at the Federal Correctional Institute (FCI) located in Dublin, California. The AACL regrets the decision of the DHS (ICE) not to treat all FOIA requests in a uniform manner that can be described as fair, impartial, neutral, objective, unbiased and unprejudiced. As a matter of principle, the AACL unequivocally condemns violence committed against women irrespective of their racial backgrounds, their sexual orientations, their national origins, their religious affiliations and/or their disability status.
Be well. Take care. Keep yourselves at arms distance.
