Elderbank Early Years - August 18th Newsletter 2020

Elderbank Early Years Newsletter
August 2020

Dear Parent/Carers,

We are delighted to welcome back our returning children and are
so proud of the progress they have made and how well they have
adapted to the changes in the Early Years. Having their voices
and laughter fill the nursery again has been wonderful! We know
they will be fantastic role models and friends to our new children
who are joining our Early Years.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to our new children and
families joining us in August, we are really looking forward to
working in partnership with you all. Positive Relationships are so
important to us and we are eager to get to know the fantastic
new additions to our nursery! Although the current situation has
meant that our usual induction procedures haven’t been possible
we are confident that our new children and their families will
settle into their new environment quickly and enjoy all of the
wonderful experiences and opportunities the Early Years has to
offer!

Thank you to everyone for your support in implementing the new
entry and exit systems. The one-way system of entering the
Early Years gate and bringing your child to their allocated
‘bubble’ gate is working well.

Bubble 1 - Diamonds and Semi-Circles – Main Early Years door.
Bubble 2 – Triangles and Stars – Early Years side gate

Session Times- You can choose which times to bring and

collect your child from the options below:

Drop off Times: Collection Times:

AM – 8.30 or 8.40 AM – 11.45 or 11.55

PM – 12.45 or 12.55 PM – 4.00 or 4.10

If your child is accessing blended hours from a childminder or
private nursery then please speak to a member of the team to
discuss collection arrangements.

On exit please continue to follow the one-way system and leave via
the main school gate. Please remember no cars are permitted in
the car park without a school permit. It is important that all
parents/carers follow Scottish Government advice and the FACTS
campaign.

At Early Years we love outdoor learning and access the
playground and woodland area on a daily basis. Please ensure that
your child is suitably dressed for the ever-changing weather. If
possible, can you please provide a waterproof suit and wellies to
stay in the Early Years. Previously we have provided these for
the children however due to the current situation the children
are unable to share these.

The children will have lots of opportunities to participate in a
range of rich learning experiences whilst outdoors and develop
many skills whilst doing so. Please watch the slideshow attached

to get a flavour of what outdoor learning looks like in Elderbank
Early Years.

Two-way communication between parents/carers and the Early
Years team is important to ensure that we can meet the needs of
your child. Please feel free to pass on any information to a
member of the team when bringing your child to nursery and the
team will share any necessary information about your child’s
session at collection time e.g. if they have an accident.

As social distancing rules are required to be followed we
appreciate this will limit the interaction and communication that
takes place. Please feel free to contact the school office on
01294 218632 and ask to speak to Mrs Carruthers or your child’s
Key Worker where you can share information or ask a question.
To ensure you are as involved in your child’s Early Years
experience as possible we will be continuing to upload
photographs of the children to the Early Years Blog on the
Elderbank website and will be using Google Classroom to share
information and ideas to support learning at home, login details
will be shared with you soon.
