Part of speech แบ่งได้เป็น 8 ประเภท คือ คำนาม คำ
สรรพนาม คำกริยา คำคุณศัพท์ คำกริยาวิเศษณ์ คำบุพบท คำ
เชื่อม และคำอุทาน

1. Noun (คำนาม)

คือ คำที่ใช้เรียกคน สัตว์ สิ่งของ สถานที่ รวมทั้งคุณสมบัติหรือ
คุณค่า ต่าง ๆ เช่น John (ชื่อคน), ant (มด), Toyota (ยี่ห้อรถ),
office (สำนักงาน), truth (ความจริง)
ข้อสังเกต: ส่วนใหญ่มักจะมี a, an, the นำหน้า
ตัวอย่างประโยค:
•A cow is and an animal.
(วัวเป็นสัตว์ชนิดหนึ่ง)

2.Pronouns (คำสรรพนาม)

คือ คำที่ใช้แทนคำนาม (Nouns) เช่น I (ฉัน), You (คุณ),
They (พวกเขา)
ตัวอย่างประโยค:
I •believe in him. (ฉันเชื่อมั่นในตัวเขา)

3.Verbs (คำกริยา)

คือ คำที่บ่งบอกถึงการกระทำ หรือการแสดงอาการ เช่น laugh
(หัวเราะ), run (วิ่ง), watch (ดู)
ข้อสังเกต: มักจะตามหลังคำนาม หรือ คำสรรพนาม
ตัวอย่างประโยค:
•My mother gave a pen to me. (แม่ของฉันให้ปากกาด้าม
หนึ่งกับฉัน)

4.Adjectives (คำคุณศัพท์)

คือ คำที่บ่งบอกถึงคุณลักษณะและใช้ขยายคำนาม (Noun)
หรือ คำสรรพนาม (Pronouns) ซึ่งเป็นคำที่เกี่ยวข้องกับ
คุณสมบัติ สภาพ สี อายุ หรือสัญชาติ เป็นต้น เช่น beautiful
(สวย), tall (สูง), blue (สีฟ้า), American (สัญชาติอเมริกัน)
ตัวอย่างประโยค:
•Anna is beautiful and tall. (แอนนาสวยและสูง)
•Shawn is an American singer. (ชอว์นเป็นนักร้องชาว
อเมริกัน)

5.Adverbs (คำกริยาวิเศษณ์)

คือ คำที่ใช้ขยายคำกริยา (verbs) คำคุณศัพท์ (adjectives)
หรือคำกริยาวิเศษณ์ (adverb) มักเป็นคำที่ลงท้ายด้วย -ly เช่น
slowly (อย่างช้า), very (มาก ๆ), really (จริง ๆ)
ฝตัวอย่างประโยค:
• A turtle walks very slowly. (เต่าเดินอย่างช้ามาก ๆ)
ตัวอย่าง Adverb ขยาย verb = slowly ขยาย walks (เดิน
อย่างช้า)
Adverb ขยาย adverb = very ขยาย slowly (อย่างช้ามาก
ๆ)
•I really like you. (ฉันชอบคุณจริง ๆ นะ)

6.Prepositions (คำบุพบท)

คือ คำที่ใช้เชื่อมคำนามและคำสรรพนามเข้ากับคำอื่น ๆ ใน
ประโยค มักเป็นคำแสดงเวลา สถานที่ ทิศทาง หรือวิธีการ เช่น
at (ที่), in (ข้างใน), by (โดย)
ตัวอย่างประโยค:
• I normally get up at 6 o’clock. (ฉันตื่นนอนตอน 6 โมง
เช้าเป็นปกติ)
•The book is on the table. (หนังสืออยู่บนโต๊ะ)

7.Conjunctions (คำสันธาน)

คือ คำที่ใช้เชื่อมคำ กลุ่มคำ หรือประโยค เข้าด้วยกัน เช่น and
(และ), but (แต่), or (หรือ)
ตัวอย่างประโยค:
•Sarah and I went to school together. (ซาราห์กับฉันไป
โรงเรียนด้วยกัน)
ตัวอย่างการเชื่อมคำ กับ คำ = Sarah and I
•He never worked hard but he got richer. (เขาไม่เคย
ทำงานหนักเลยแต่เขารวยขึ้น)

8.Interjections (คำอุทาน)

คือ คำที่ใช้เปล่งออกมา เพื่อแสดงอารมณ์ หรือความรู้สึกต่าง ๆ
เช่น Oh! (โอ้), Wow! (ว้าว), Oops! (อุ๊บส์)
ตัวอย่างประโยค:
•Oh! I’m sorry for your loss. (โอ้! ฉันเสียใจด้วยกับการสูญ
เสียของคุณ)
•Wow! You look beautiful. (ว้าว! คุณดูสวยจังเลย)
