Purpose
The purpose of my capstone ePortfolio is to show how much knowledge I have absorbed
in my studies in the MET program and how I have used that knowledge to adapt and improve my
teaching methodology. I began the MET program with not much idea as to what it would do to
help my actual teaching practice but more for the reason to gain a qualification to help me
advance my career. Since my first course, I have felt a shift in my perception of this course to
more of an arena where I can push my boundaries and work with others to advance my limits as
a teacher. I plan to show my journey through the MET program in the form of the artifacts of
projects I have completed on my own or in groups.
Significance:
Metaphor / Framework
Having a metaphor woven into your ePortfolio to express your experiences during the
MET program is very important because the metaphor helps to add a narrative thread to tie
everything together. I have lived in Korea for over 10 years and since Korea is over 80%
mountains I have taken up the hobby of climbing (hiking) to the peaks of various mountains all
over the country. I will format my ePortfolio as my journey to the tops of these peaks and
compare various courses to various peaks. Like each peak every course offers distinct
challenges and offers distinct rewards. Every ascent is different and teaches the climber new
things about themselves and how to overcome a variety of challenges. By linking my MET

experience with this metaphor I hope to allow my intended audience, and in fact myself, the
opportunity to see how the MET program has impacted my craft as an educator.
Audience
The audience that this ePortfolio is aimed at is my fellow ETEC 590 students and the
instructor. Even though I know that this ePortfolio may not reach a larger audience I still feel
that I should make it something I am proud of and can look back upon as a memento of what I
have learned and how I have changed over these past few years in the MET program.
Objective
My objective is first and foremost to complete the requirements for my MET degree.
In addition to what I have stated in my purpose above I want to create an elegant and visually
engaging product that sums up what I have learned in the MET program and one that serves as a
calling card to the skills I have learned over my learning journey. I want to create something that
is understated but allows the viewer to clearly understand my MET experiences.
Procedure
When planning for this activity I, at first, toyed with idea of creating this site from scratch
using CSS or a stand alone website creation tool like BLOCS or Sandvox (both Mac Programs)
but soon decided that this might take too much time, due to the learning curve, so I pivoted to a
web based designer called Weebly that I have used in the past. I feel that I should use a
comfortable tool to build my site so that I can focus on the content instead of learning a new tool.

Expected Outcome
The expected outcome of the ePortfolio is a basically a platform for me to project the
learning journey I have had over the past few years and 9 courses in my MET timeline. I hope
that by using my metaphor well and reflecting on my experience I can both complete my
learning journey and be able to perhaps help others know what to expect on their own.

Rubric
The following rubric does not focus on simply the concept behind and the aesthetics of
the site itself but also the depth and thought put into the material chosen to express my MET
