Festival of Ideas (FOI) 2022 is organized by Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education.

With the mission empowerment exercise science HEAL
from cellular level to community through research RESEARCH
and innovation for the wellness of the society, UNIT
HEAL Research Unit brings diverse experiences
and perspectives to the field of Exercise Medicine The Health Through
and Exercise Physiology. With the vision of Exercise and Active
"LINKING EXERCISE SCIENCE WITH HEALTH AND Living (HEAL)
PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE". Research Unit is the

This unit aims to be a leader in exercise science, research facility in
educate the next generation of exercise scientists, Sabah, Malaysia
and serve the community. HEAL's mission is to act where it is located at
as a multidisciplinary entity to initiate and conduct the Faculty of
research focused on health, exercise and Medicine and Health
performance, with motto 3S – “Scientific, Specific Sciences, University
& Safe”. of Malaysia Sabah
(UMS).

AND SONGS
OF SABAH

ASTiF PERFORMANCES

In addition to busking and solo saxophone performances, ASTiF will
showcase traditional dance, modern dance, and creative dance

performances. This entire performance reflects the richness and
singularity of Sabahan culture. This performance will be presented by

ASTiF dance faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate students.



IGAL DANCE
The Igal dance is a traditional Bajau

Laut dance in Semporna Sabah.
Originally, this dance was inspired

by the ritual ceremony leader's
movement, which was adapted into
one of the Igal dance performance's

movements. Today, regardless of
ethnicity, the Igal dance is

frequently performed in Sabah as
one of the celebration dances.

SUMAZAU DANCE
In the Penampang Distrct of Sabah, the
Kadazan Dusun ethnic group is known for
their traditional dance known as the Sumazau
dance. The bobolian movement that was
performed throughout the ritual rites was
another source of inspiration for this dance.
This dance is currently considered a popular
dance in modern times and is frequently
performed at various celebrations and events
held in Sabah.

MOMILUK DANCE
One of the traditional dances performed by members of the
Kimaragang ethnic group in the Kota Marudu and Pitas District of
Sabah is known as the Momiluk dance. The movements of this
dance convey a warm welcome to the visitors who have come to
join in their celebration, as well as an excited attitude of
appreciation for their arrival. In the ceremonies of Mongukas and
Moginakan, as well as weddings, this dance is frequently
performed by people of the Kimaragang ethnic group..

MAGUNATIP DANCE
The Magunatip dance is a popular

warrior dance among the Murut
ethnic group in the Sabah districts of

Tenom and Keningau. This dance
blends the courageous gestures of
soldiers with the elegance of Murut

women performing magalang.
Nowadays, this dance has become

one of the most popular among
visitors because of the magunatip
movement which is so exhilarating
and challenges the dancer's talents.

medallist who
represents UMS
and Malaysia in
the tournament
will perform a
special
performance.

Ketari Sari (Duet Peformance)

Ketari Sari is the duet partner of Dr. Sharip
Zainal Bin Sagkif Shek and Norain Binti Abd
Razak, whose choreography emphasised
contemporary Malay and ethnic dance. This
duo once competed on an RTM-produced
reality show (Planet Joget) and advanced to
the semifinals. Ketari Sari has earned the
Bronze medal in the Creative and
Contemporary Ethnic Category at the World
Championships Of Performing Arts
(WCoPA2022), held in the United States.

Vanessa William Sabah's Tambunan District-born Vanessa
(Solo Performance) William is a second-year Creative Arts (Dance)
major at the Academy of Arts and Creative
Technology (ASTiF). In 2013, she won a reality
television competition (Lantai Celik). She also
competed in Tugu Budaya and placed third. In
2022, she and her troupe won the Sabah
State-level Malaysia Dance Festival 2022
competition, and she received silver and
bronze medals at the World Championships of
Performing Arts (WCoPA2022
