SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT
School of Management (SOM) Universiti Sains Malaysia has been
consistently ranked as the top public business schools among the
public universities in Malaysia since its establishment in the year
1989. School of Management offers students a multidisciplinary
exposure where besides majoring in the programme of their
interest, they can choose a minor programme which is outside
the scope of management studies. SOM’s graduates’
employability rate has also been very impressive, achieving over
90% every year for both the Accounting and Management
programmes. Over the last 20 years, the School of Management
has produced more than 330 PhD graduates from more than 50
countries. Despite its successes, the School of Management does
not rest on its laurels and takes great pains to constantly updates
its curriculum so that it is in synchronization with the needs of
the constantly changing business environment

MANAGEMENT SOCIETY
Management Society was founded in 1989 by the School of
Management, Universiti Sains Malaysia. At Management Society,
our Slogan “Towards Continuous Improvement” is an integral part
of our society. Combining unparallel experience, business projects
with unlimited new exposure, Management Society capable of
helping students to create the value they’re looking for. We also
provide the platform to unite the students’ welfare with the school
administration.
The annual events that are organized by Management Society
include School of Management Interaction Day, Career Exposure,
First Year Training Programme, Industrial Visit, and SOM
Recreational Event. All the annual events are entirely organised
and run by the executive committees which are recruited from the
first and second-year students from the School of Management.
With their dedication and contribution, Management Society is
always moving towards continuous improvement.
INTRODUCTION
BIZMAKER
This year, Management Society is organizing a brand new exciting event called
BizMaker with the theme "Creativity, Enhancement, Opportunities" (CEO). The
purpose of this event is to introduce and provide a platform that allows students to
explore, learn and develop skills in the field of entrepreneurship and business.
BizMaker is a competition that explores talent, creativity and innovative skills in the
field of entrepreneurship and business held at inter-university level. In this event,
Management Society will work with a company to challenge the minds and creativity
of the participants in the field of business and entrepreneurship. In this collaboration,
the company will sponsor the event and in return, the society will announce them as
a co-organizer and assist in increasing the company’s brand awareness among the
student community. The company can also acquire creative ideas through the
presentations made by the participants and at the same time scout for talent in the
field of entrepreneurship and business. The company has the right to decide the
topic of presentation and this topic will be related to the elements of the company.
Company representatives and lecturers from USM School of Management will be
invited to be the referees for this event. Participants will be asked to present the
ideas prepared in advance to the judges. This event can also broaden the
perspectives of the participants across various aspects in the field of
entrepreneurship and business through comments and interaction with the judges.
Comments from such experts can serve as valuable insights for the participants to
apply in their future business undertakings after the competition. The referees will
evaluate the performance of the participants based on their creativity, effectiveness
and feasibility. Winners of BizMaker will receive prizes in the form of money or goods.
Rules and Regulation
General Rules
a)This competition is open to all undergraduates from
universities and colleges in Malaysia.
b)Every participant of BizMaker is expected to act
respectfully towards others, with academic and professional
ethics, conducting themselves with high integrity and
honesty.
c)No changes can be made to the files once submitted for
both Biz Planning and Biz Pitching.
d)All the entries must be original and do not contain any
elements of plagiarism. The entry must be submitted for the
first time and cannot be reused.
e)The organiser reserves the right to use the works received
at any time.
f)The organiser reserves the right to make any amendments
to the rules and inform the participants regarding the
changes if necessary.
g)Any violation of the rules may result in disqualification of
the team.
h)If there are any disputes, the organiser reserves the right
to make the final decision. Any objections will not be
entertained.
Rules and Regulation
Biz Planning Rules
a)One topic will be disclosed by the organiser on 15th April
2021 to all the participants.
b)Participants will be given seven days to discuss and
prepare the Powerpoint slides.
c)All teams need to submit their Powerpoint slides to the
organiser before 21st April 2021. Late submissions will not
be entertained.
d)The top 15 teams will be selected and advanced to Biz
Pitching to present their ideas towards the judges.
e)The top 15 teams from the Biz Planning will be announced
on 25th April 2021.
Rules and Regulation
Biz Pitching Rules
a)The top 15 teams will be given four days to discuss and
prepare a more detailed PowerPoint slides with the same
topics from the Biz Planning.
b)The top 15 teams need to submit their PowerPoint slides
to the organiser before 29th April 2021. Late submissions
will not be entertained.
c)The sequence of the team presentation will be decided by
using a wheelspin on 27th April 2021.
d)Each team will be given 10 minutes to present their ideas
thoroughly and 5 minutes for Q & A session.
e)The organiser is in charge of sharing the PowerPoint
slides during the pitching session. Hence, participants are
not allowed to provide extra documents to the judges.
f)3 teams with the highest score will be selected as the
winners of the BizMaker.
