SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT
The School of Management, Universiti Sains Malaysia was
established on the 1st of December 1989. It has been
consistently ranked as the top public business school among
the public universities in Malaysia. School of Management
offers students multidisciplinary exposure where besides
majoring in the programme of their interest, they can choose a
minor programme that is outside the scope of management
studies. SOM’s graduates’ employability rate has also been
very impressive, achieving over 90% every year for both the
Accounting and Management programmes. Over the last 20
years, the School of Management has produced more than 330
PhD graduates from more than 50 countries. Despite its
successes, the School of Management does not rest on its
laurels and takes great pains to constantly update its
curriculum so that it is in synchronisation with the needs of the
constantly changing business environment. Internationally,
SOM is well recognised with no less than 150 students from
twenty different countries coming to SOM for an exchange
programme. In 2017, SOM was ranked 106th at the QS World
University Rankings, and in 2018 it has improved its ranking to
63rd place.

INTRODUCTION
MANAGEMENT SOCIETY
Management Society was founded in 1989. Prior to the establishment
of the Management Society, all student activities were organised
through the Management Club. However, in 1991, the Management
Club was officially replaced by The Management Society of the
School of Management (SOM). With the slogan “Towards Continuous
Improvement”, Management Society is capable of helping students to
create the value they’re looking for and providing the platform to unite
the students’ welfare with the school administration.
Management Society often organised several activities and events
that benefit all undergraduates. Annual events include School of
Management Interaction Day, Career Exposure, First Year Training
Programme, Industrial Visit, BizMaker and SOM Recreational Event.
All the annual events are organised and run entirely by the executive
committee and junior committee from the School of Management
students. There are also a number of collaboration activities and
events with other societies and companies that provide opportunities
for undergraduates to expand their network, development of higher-
level thinking, communication, self-management, and promotion of
student-faculty interaction. With their dedication and contribution,
Management Society is always moving towards continuous
improvement and keeping abreast with the times.
