FROM OUR PRESIDENT'S DESK
Divaker Reddy
The Beacon Team is bringing out the fourth issue of this Rotary
year. I congratulate them. Despite the prevailing uncertainties, we
adjusted to the new normal. We had joint meeting with RI District
7630, one of our partners for the Global Grants project. The meeting
was well-attended and extremely fruitful.
The next edition of our Webinar "Emergex" was successfully
conducted in the first week of October. I am happy to note that
participants are looking forward to this Webinar.
Since Rotary designates October as a month for Economic and
Community Development, we chose to honour Smart Farmers with
awards during this month. The emphasis has been on enabling the
farmers to adopt new crops, new techniques to deliver organic
products to the consumer. We also had a speaker on Economic and
Community Development. An excellent speaker, he enlightened the
Club members on this aspect.
Our Club also participated in the twin city programme on Gandhian
Philosophy for world peace. I would like to thank every Rotarian of
our Club and their family members for their contribution and co-
operation. I hope the coming months will keep the promise shown
by the forceful beginning.
I sign off by Wishing our Rotary Family a happy Deepavali.

MOBILE CANCER SCREENING BUS PROJECT
by Rtn Suren Poruri
Mobile cancer screening bus global grant project was submitted on October 6th. It
completed 16 authorizations and was submitted to Rotary foundation on October 19th.
The project value is USD113,000.00. Mobile cancer screening bus will hold -
Mammography machine, Ultrasound machine & Colposcope machine. Above mentioned
equipment is required for screening different types of cancer for men and women.
The application for Global Grants was submitted with required information. Post review
the Rotary Foundation has approved our application. This is the first application for
Global Grants by any club in District 3150 for 2020-21. The approval of the application is
a step in the right direction for our Club & also a validation from the supporting rotary
clubs across the world. Your support and confidence on us have been exceptional and
inspiring.
Now the club members and I look forward to bring this project to fruition. The news that
rotary is donating a cancer bus reached Telangana Health Minister Mr Eatala Rajender
and he is excited about this initiative of Rotary and is interested in supporting it fully in
it's implementation. Minister asked for few more cancer buses across different districts of
Telangana. DG Hanmantha Reddy NV , PDG Ratna Prabhakar, PDG Ravi Vadlamani, PDG
Ramesh Vangala are excited about this project and are wishing it to be successful.
We have reached milestone of approval of Global Grants with conscious efforts to
arrange for funds required. There were efforts made to reach out various Rotary clubs in
Europe and the Americas. I would like to thank all the club members & President Divaker
Reddy. Special mention to Director Youth Services and Past President Rtn Arpitha for
beautifully and meticulously presenting the project information to various clubs.
Now the implementation partners are also finalized. Primary partner is MNJ Cancer
Hospital, Lakdikapul, Hyderabad who have committed to conduct minimum 70+
screening camps across suburban areas of Hyderabad and villages across Telangana
during the First year of project. Plan to extend the camps to 100+ each year subsequently.
While the bus is not in use, we have decided to park the bus at Ramakrishna Mission
Health Center, Hyderabad for their use. Objective is to gain maximum uitilization of the
equipment and the bus and reach out to as many people in need. The R K Mission health
Center gets 1000+ visitors/patients each day. Will keep all posted on the development
and the next phase of the project.
Thanks everyone for the kind support.

FROM EDITOR'S DESK
This lovely poem was written by Mario de Andrade (San Paolo 1893-1945) Poet, novelist, essayist & musicologist.
He was one of the founders of Brazilian modernism.
MY SOUL HAS A HAT
I counted my years & realized that I have Less time to live by, Than I have lived so far.
I feel like a child who won a pack of candies: at first he ate them with pleasure, But when he realized that there
was little left, he began to taste them intensely. I have no time for endless meetings where the statutes, rules,
procedures & internal regulations are discussed, knowing that nothing will be done.I no longer have the patience
to stand absurd people who, despite their chronological age, have not grown up.
My time is too short: I want the essence,my spirit is in a hurry.I do not have much candy in the package anymore.
I want to live next to humans, very realistic people who know how to laugh at their mistakes, who are not inflated
by their own triumphs & who take responsibility for their actions. In this way, human dignity is defended, and we
live in truth and honesty.
It is the essentials that make life useful. I want to surround myself with people who know how to touch the hearts
of those whom hard strokes of life have learned to grow, with sweet touches of the soul.
Yes, I'm in a hurry. I'm in a hurry to live with the intensity that only maturity can give. I do not intend to waste
any of the remaining desserts.
I am sure they will be exquisite, much more than those eaten so far.My goal is to reach the end satisfied and at
peace with my loved ones and my conscience.
We have two lives &
the second begins when you realize you only have one!!
