Only forty five minutes outside of
Houston sits Brenham, Texas, a his-
torical city with a small-town feel.
Locals wave you by as they drive in
their pickup trucks and sit outside
bars. It’s the typical American small
town known for its southern charm
as much as it’s famous Blue Bell
Creameries.

I got my dad to come with me
as we toured the area on foot,
walking through alleyways and
down main streets to take photos
of the historical downtown dis-
trict. Much like Savannah, Geor-
gia, there was a clear mixture of
old and new. Characterized by
it’s Wild West history and new,
entertainment venues and small
businesses, the city produced a
nice dichotomy of present and
past.

The pandemic has limited my travels out-of-state
to visit family for now but, walking around Bren-
ham that day, I realized how much there is to offer
close to home.
