❑ Sunlight hit the solar panel
(photovoltaic/ PV) and absorbed by
semi-conducting materials silicone (Si).
❑ Electrons are knocked loose from their
atoms, which allow them to flow
through the material to produce
electricity. This process is called the
photovoltaic (PV) effect.
