Activities, questions, directions, exercises, and discussions are carefully stated for you to understand each lesson. Each SLM is composed of different parts. A vowel diphthong is a sound in which the tongue changes position to produce the sound of two vowels. In other words, it is a single sound produced when two vowels (one dominant in duration and stress, and one reduced in duration and stress), are paired together in sequence. Example: oy: boy, toy, soy, joy ou: out, house, cloud, oi: boil, soil, coin, point ow: bow, cow, owl Example of sentences with diphthongs- oy, oi, ou, ow: 1. The boy has many talents. 2. I lost my ten-peso coin. 3. The cloud is dark when it rains. 4. We have a cow in the farm.
