Warm Up
• Two laps around the court to get the blood
flowing
• Brief stretch to get ready for the activities

Red Light , Green
Light
• Skill focus: Concentration
• Rules: Everyone will be on one side of the court behind the baseline, and when the
leader say green light everyone runs as fast as they can.When the leader says yellow
light you skip. When the leader says red light you must be completely frozen.
Whoever is caught still in motion you are out.
• Equipment: No equipment required
• Space Requirements: Full court
• Time Needed: 5-10 minutes
Basketball Relay
• Skill focus: Speed
• Rules: Everyone will be split into 2 teams on opposite sides of the court. Each team
will start on the baseline. Each player will shoot the ball, until you make it. When
you make it you must sit down and cheer the other teammates on.
• Equipment: 2 basketball, 2 cones
• Space Requirements: half court
• Time Needed :5-10 minutes
People to People
• Skill focus : Teamwork and Listening
• Rules: Each student gets a partner. The class will get into a large circle with your
partner standing foot to foot. The leader will call out different combinations of
body parts such as (back to back, elbow to knee). When the leader says people to
people all students must find a new partner.

• Time Needed: 10-20 minutes
Move it
Together
• Skill focus: Teamwork
• Rules: Students will carry a variety of balls from one side to the next. You
cant use your hands so you have to be creative and come up with a way to
get your balls get across. If the ball falls you must start over.
• Equipment: balls
• Space Requirement: full court
• Time Needed: 10-20 minutes
Rock the boat
• Skill focus: Have space awareness
• Rules: Every wall in the in the gym is given a name for directions to the
boat. For example, the front of the gym will be the bow, the right side
will be called starboard, the back will be called the stern and the left side
is called port. The students will start in the middle of the gym the
teacher will yell for direction on the boat. Then the students must run to
the direction. Then the teacher yells other names you must run to the
boat.

Tug of War
• Skill focus: Speed
• Rules: The class will be split into 2 teams. The two teams will pull opposite
ends of a rope until one team drags the other over the central line. When
one crosses the central line the other team wins.
• Equipment: rope
• Space Requirements: half court
• Time Needed:10-20 minutes
Lay it up
• Skill focus: Get the ball in the net and make all the lay ups
• Rules: Class will split into 2 teams. Each team will be in a single file line at
the free throw line. The team that makes all their lay ups win.
• Equipment: 2 basketballs
• Space Requirements: half court
• Time Needed:10-15 minutes
Calling all cars
• Skill focus: Physical fitness
• Rules: Leader will split you into 2 teams. Each player needs to choose
a car of your choice. The two sides of the gym are safe zones. Pick
two people to be police officers. The police will call out a car you
must switch safe ones without the officers catching you. Continue
playing until all players are out.

• Time Needed: 15-20 minutes
Hot Potato
• Skill focus: Speed and hand to eye coordination
• Rules: Students will get in the center in a circle. Music will start and the
players pass around the “potato". When the music stops the player
holding the “potato” will be out.
• Equipment: ball and speaker
• Space Requirements: half court
• Time Needed: 15-20 minutes
Volleyball
Bounce
• Skill focus: eye coordination
• Rules: Get into a circle. When you here start you go.
The person with the volleyball must start serving the
ball in the air for the next person to hit it. If the person
misses or spikes the ball out of the circle they are out.
• Equipment: 1 volleyball
• Space Requirements: half court
• Time Needed: 10-15 minutes
Steal my can
• Skill focus: Ice breaker
• Rules: The students will fill in the hula hoops with at least one foot inside the hoop.
When the leaders yells "steal my can” the students will have a few seconds to run to
different hula hoops and put one foot inside. The leader will choose any hula hoop
to steal leaving the group of students with one less hula hoop every time. Any
person caught with their foot outside the hoop will be out.

Buddy up
• Skill focus: listening
• Rules: Students will be split up into 2 groups. Buddy Up:
3 jumping jacks. Buddy Down: Push up. Buddy Switch :
switch partners. Buddy Run: Run to the baseline. Buddy
Bridge: Take a knee. Buddy Go: must stop.
