• Pandelela was a natural at diving. With the support and encouragement from her
family and coach, she took up the sports seriously and represented her state,
Sarawak to compete at the national games. Her first win was a Bronze Medal at the
National Age Group competition in Negeri Sembilan in 2004.

• After that, Pandelela represented Malaysia in many competition including
Olympics. She is Malaysia's best hope for an Olympic medal in diving.

• In 2018, Pandelela success in completing her tertiary education from University of
Malaya, majoring in Sports Management Science despite the demands and hectic
schedule as a national diver who has to train hard daily and compete in both local
and international diving competitions and meets. Pandelela revealed that the key to
her success was sheer determination and will power, as well as not giving up.

• Moving away from her family to Kuala Lumpur at only 14, Pandelela suffered from
home sickness. Her teammates used to go home every weekend while she had to find
ways to entertain herself.

• With a life dedicated to diving, she had not spent a single birthday with her family since
2007 and she vocal about her regrets missing out on her siblings' milestones which is a
frustrating roadblock in her professional career.

• At the age of 24, Pandelela has led a very disciplined and guided life which not having
experienced most of the things that a typical young woman her age would have.

• It’s bad enough dealing with the pressure to perform at diving, but there is also constant
pressure from social media where some keyboard warriors persistently try to hurt her in
any way they can. Even appearing in media and being involved in photo shoots was a
point of criticism by the haters.

Achievements

She won the gold medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. She was
chosen to be the flagbearer of Malaysia at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
She went on to win the bronze medal in the 10m platform, becoming the
first Malaysian female athlete to win an Olympic medal.
