LEXINGTON GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear Members, We are pleased and very excited to advise that the Vote regarding the Board’s Resolution, concluded at the Special Meeting on Tuesday, May 21, per earlier notice, indicated overwhelming support for our efforts to forge a partnership with Washington & Lee University. The final tally was 208 votes FOR the Resolution, and 24 votes AGAINST the recommended path forward. We appreciate the enormous support shown for the Board’s and W&L Representatives’ efforts, and all are committed to developing a new path for our Jewel of the Valley of which we can all be proud. This truly marks a new chapter in our evolution, and we hope you share our enthusiasm. We understand that some have concerns about this partnership. That said, the members of our Board, and those involved on behalf of W&L, with the capable assistance of our Landscape Management partners, are eager to move forward, and are aligned and aimed at developing an approach to the golf course, related facilities, organizational structure, financial model, member programming (golf, swimming, racquet sports, food and beverage,) etc., that best serves the interests of all our current and future members. This is a momentous time for our club, and we are keen to get started on this new beginning. In the coming months, we will share information with all of you regarding future happenings on the course, design and construction details, agreement specifics, forward plans for member retention and recruitment, etc. In the meantime, if you have questions, please feel free to reach out to any of our Board Members – we will do our best to answer your questions or find an answer for you. Thanks again for your support, and we look forward to seeing you at the Club. Neal Lineberry President

A record setting thirty teams, sixty golfers teed up for the Memorial Day weekend Stars and Stripes two day, match play golf tournament led by C0-Captains Thom Gill for the Stars and Neal Lineberry heading the Stripes. Teams of golfers competed against each other on a hole by hole basis; matches were tight often coming down to the last hole for honors. The Stars team was declared the winner with a total of 281.5 points; the Stripes tallied a total score of 258. 5 points. Congratulations to the Stars team; each member won $50 Pro Shop credit. Thanks to all the golfers who participated in this fun, competitive annual Stars and Stripes Memorial Day tournament. A huge shout out to Head Pro Isaac for organizing such a great tournament, for the quick pairings & notifications, and for his constant communication regarding all aspects of the tournament. Peter and the maintenance crew did a fabulous job maintaining the course, setting the pins, and keeping water on the course. Finally, thanks to the Pro Shop staff & Food and Beverage for taking care of us all weekend. LGCC is blessed! Peak season for golf has arrived along with many tournaments scheduled for our membership. LGCC uses the automated GHIN (Golf Handicap Information Network) authorized by the USGA/VSGA to calculate handicaps. In order to compete fairly and equitably in club tournaments and events, golfers should have an established handicap by entering a minimum of five recent scores played under the USGA rules of golf. After each round (9 or 18 holes), please enter your score by either using the handicap computer located in the front entrance of the golf shop or download the free GHIN app on your electronic device to post your score. If you have any questions, please reach out to Isaac, Jeff, or Linda Maini, Handicap Chairperson. All senior men are invited to participate in the first Men’s Senior Golf Tournament on May 31 and June 1. Format is a two day Captain’s Choice with monetary prizes for 1st and 2nd place in both gross and net divisions.
