Are We Still Csehy? BY FLOYD RAWLEIGH
Floyd Rawleigh, Artistic Director “I was totally

When I first visited Csehy in 1983, I remember driving down that long driveway at
Muncy Terraces and getting a tingle down my spine, the kind of a tingle that gives singing and the
a vague awareness: “This is the start of something special.” During that visit, I had sincerity,
the opportunity to meet many of the “legends” of Csehy for the first time: Wilmos,
Gladys, Tom and Ruth Burns, Lew and Lillian Pinkham (Dad and Lady P), Doe (Mom) by the sharing

know it then, but it would be my only opportunity to sit and chat with Wilmos Csehy
as he went to be with the Lord later that year. During that brief visit, there were FLOYD RAWLEIGH
several things that made a deep impression on me:
1. The love of the Lord present in all parts of the program: chapel, music rehearsals,
free time, dorm life, interactions between staff members, interactions between
staff and students, and interactions amongst the students themselves.
2. The dedication to a very high quality of musicianship.
3. Singtime! Definitely the highlight of my visit that day. I was totally blown away
by the singing and the sincerity, by the sharing and the joy.
4. The sense of family love and concern for each other.
So.....34 years later, I am still impressed with these same things. Csehy has existed in
three different locations over my years with the organization. The change of location
has necessarily brought changes in the program, but the core values of Csehy are
still recognizable to anyone visiting from the “old days.” In fact, it is one of the first
questions I ask one of these dear friends after a visit: are we still Csehy? There is
usually a pause and then a smile and then a “Yes.”

New in 2 0 1 7 - COUNSELING INTERNSHIPS
To serve as a Csehy counselor is a wonderful and fulfilling opportunity. Our summer

reality is that these weeks offer only glimpses into the year-round and life-long glimpses into the
impact of the Csehy ministry on the lives of campers. Even while they all give so year-round and
much of themselves, our counselors, faculty, and staff truly value the special community life-long impact
that is found in working together each summer. This year, we are thrilled to announce of the Csehy
a new program that will strengthen this community and, in a formal way, extend ministry on the
the Csehy arm of influence beyond the lives of our campers: the internship program. lives of campers.
The counselors participating in the internship program were selected as all Csehy
counselors are selected: first-and-foremost for their demonstrated testimony and
character, as well as their ability to maintain a rich, fun, and safe camping
experience which fully integrates faith through all aspects of the pro-
gram. The counseling interns will support in all areas of camp life,
performing typical counseling duties while also gaining experience
within the musical and administrative operations. With internships
available in music, administration, and nursing, we are utilizing this
opportunity to invest in the lives of these counseling interns
while they pour into the lives of the campers. Counseling
interns will work in areas related specifically to their
internship, and will be personally mentored by faculty,
staff, and the camp nurse.
Please pray for all of our counselors this summer as
well as our faculty and administrative staff, that while
they minister to the campers, God would enrich them
in a closer walk with Jesus which would carry them
through the coming year.

Then & Now BY LAUREN HOLLAND

LAUREN HOLLAND would change me. Through rehearsals, lessons, chapel messages, devotions, and
conversations, I grew musically and in my walk with Christ more than I ever
dreamed possible.
Each summer contains its own unique challenges, and every day is a new op-
portunity to say “yes” to God and what He is calling me to do. For three summers
during college, I was privileged to travel on missions trips in Europe. At the end of
these trips, I always landed back at Csehy for various reasons. In 2009, God called
me to counsel at Csehy once again, and I had the privilege of serving as the Lead
Counselor for eight years. While at Csehy in 2010, God started me on a path that
would lead me to work at the Black Forest Academy in Germany, where I continue
to teach music during the school year.
As a young camper, my grandmother asked me how I liked Csehy. I told her it was
like opening my favorite container of ice cream and knowing that there is much
more to enjoy! Now, as the Head Counselor, I still feel the same way. At every
bend in the road, I have wondered what would come next, but beneath it all is the
knowledge there is a God who loves me and whom I can trust implicitly.

From our first moments at Csehy to his sudden home-going in 2011, the impact
of Dr. Hsu in my life remains such that, beyond the many musical wonders shared,
I’m still led closer to Christ and His witness by the unique model of Christian faith
and love evidenced in this beloved saint’s life. Actually, it was after two weeks
of Csehy that the Holy Spirit cracked the great wall of my rebellious unbelief, and
converted my heart and soul through saving faith in the work that Jesus Christ
had carried out for the world, even for me personally. Through the lessons, classes,
concerts, recitals, chapels, devotions, free times, and friendships, Csehy continues
to transform my life, year in and year out, at first as a student, now as faculty.
After recently completing my doctorate in music, and having performed numerous
times at Carnegie Hall and at various international festivals and competitions, my
journey is returning “full-circle” as I’ve recently confirmed a calling to serve in the
piano faculty at Palm Beach Atlantic University. However, it was not my accom-
plishments that got me noticed and made it possible for my wife Diandra and me
to relocate closer to family in South Florida. It turned out to be my connection to
Csehy and Dr. Hsu that caught the attention of the person reviewing my résumé,
because as former faculty, he too is a “Csehyite.”
