en Osaghae was born on the 23rd of June 1963 in Benin City, Nigeria. He
studied Fine Art at the prestigious Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, Nigeria
Band graduated with a Higher National Diploma ( HND), specializing in
Painting in 1986. He was also awarded the Rector's Award for Excellence.
He served his one year National Youth Service Corps mandatory programme in
Sokoto State, Nigeria in 1987 and taught there till 1990.
He returned to his Alma Mater, Auchi Polytechnic in 1991 and took up employment
as a Lecturer. He taught Painting, Drawing and History of Art. He was a great
inspiration to his students.
In 1995, he resigned from the Polytechnic to pursue his career as a full time studio
artist. He set up Art Hours Studios and has contributed immensely to the
development of the careers of many young artists.
He used his work as a tool for social commentary, criticizing Nigeria's political,
social and Economic issues.
He was a member of numerous professional bodies and organizations including
the Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA) and the Guild of Professional Fine Artists of
Nigeria ( GFA).
He held several solo exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions in
Nigeria and abroad. His works have featured prominently in several art auctions.
He was described by Jess Castellote in ART AFRICA Magazine July 2017 edition as
a Visual Chronicler, an extraordinary draughtsman and one of the most
prominent figures of a generation of Nigerian Artists born during the period of
Nigeria's independence.

am Ovraiti was born in Zaria in 1961. He was educated at the famous Auchi
polytechnic, Auchi and the University of Benin, Nigeria where he obtained a
SHigher National Diploma ( HND) and a Masters of Fine Art (MFA) degree in
Painting respectively.
Sam taught painting, drawing and Illustration at the Auchi Polytechnic for a
period of eight years. There he mentored numerous young artists many of whom
are now established artists. In 1993 he resigned from the Polytechnic to pursue his
career as a full-time studio artist in Lagos.
Though a multimedia artist he is acclaimed to be one of the most expressive
water colour painters in Nigeria.
He has been honoured with numerous awards including “Best overall graduating
student” in his year;1st place winner at the Mobil producing Nigerian Art
Competition in 1983; One of the top three Nigerian artists at the Guinness Nigeria
National Art Competition 2004.
He has executed several art projects including the First International Conference
Centre Abuja Art Project.
His paintings which largely address the issues of the female gender can be found
in many notable collections including that of the National Council of Arts and
craft.
He has participated in numerous art exhibitions. His works have also featured in
art auctions such as Bonhams, Art House, Sogal and MTK Art Auctions.
He is a member of the Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA), a foundation member of
the Guild of Professional Fine Artists of Nigeria (GFA) and a patron of the
Watercolour Society Nigeria. He is a current director of the Harmattan Workshop
Agbara Otor, an annual retreat of the Bruce Onobrakpeya foundation where
artists meet to advance the development of art in Nigeria through sharing of
ideas and techniques.
