Interested in discussing important current issues and simulating state government?
Then Youth in Government (YIG) is for you!

In YIG, students in grades 8-12 pick an area of interest and then assume the role of legislator,
court of appeals lawyer, newspaper reporter, lobbyist, or other government position.

Students prepare legislation, debate bills, write court briefs, or dozens of other things
as they prepare for their particular role. To be added to the interest list, please email

AQUATICS & SAFETYLearn to Swim with Lakeville Area Community Ed!

Red Cross trained and certified instructors will help your child enjoy developing swimming and water safety skills
in a positive learning environment. Discussion of safety topics are included in all classes. Prerequisite for each level
is the mastery of skills from the preceding level or equivalent skills. Each child is provided with a skill assessment
within the first two classes to determine appropriate level placement. Each student receives a bookmark at the start
of the class with a free pass to open swim along with a progress report at the end of the session. It is common for
a child to repeat a level before mastering all skills.

For complete class descriptions, a comparison of our levels to other swim programs, and other frequently
asked questions, please visit our website: LakevilleAreaCommunityEd.org. For other questions,
contact [email protected] or call 952-232-2150. Swim lesson prices & schedules on page 34.

Meet the Jeffrey Family

How did you hear about Lakeville ECFE?
We were living in Florida and have a friend that lived in MN
and she recommended ECFE. I did a google search and
started going through the online catalog and we signed up
right away. So glad we did!

What ages are your children?
We have four year old triplets.

What is one word to describe your family? Busy

What is one word to describe ECFE? Community

What classes have you taken through ECFE?
We started with pop in and play. Then we did Wonderful One’s, a class for three year olds and we have been
doing Life with Multiples for three years.

What would you say to someone interested in taking an ECFE class?
We highly recommend ECFE, they offer classes for all families.

What is your family’s favorite activity to do together at ECFE?
We love the variety of activities offered, especially the crafts, as well as the break out time to discuss with
other parents.

Has there been a particular part of parenting that you have benefited from?
The parenting side is one of our favorite parts of the program. Having a class dedicated to parents of multiples
has been so helpful and encouraging. We’ve made some great friends from the class and we have learned so
much from the teachers and other parents.
