Based on the blood donation day in June, the Leo Club of
Piliyandala was able to successfully conduct a blood
donation project in collaboration with the KDU Hospital,
Werahera. There was a shortage of blood in the covid-19
epidemic that was spreading all over the world. However,
despite the difficult situation in our country we Piliyandala
Leos were able to organize a blood donation program in a
healthy manner.

The blood donation program was held on 7th of June from
8.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. at the KDU Hospital premises. On
that day, Lions and Visiting leos also donated blood and
contributed to this good deed. At the end of the day 70
people including 65 blood donors contributed to the
success of the blood donation program.

Zomba Leo Lions cherishes special Olympics athletes

The covid-19 epidemic was a time of trouble
for all of us. During that period with the
onset of winter it had another effect. Zomba
Leo Lions members recognized that special
Olympics athletes in Malawi lacked PPEs,
winter jackets and blankets during winter.
The club recognized the problem and were
able to gather the resources and made
donations to special Olympics and athletes.
We gave them reusable face masks soap for
them to regularly wash their hands. We also
provided them winter jackets and blankets.
The donations were given to athletes in all
regions of Malawi (Southern Central and
Northern region athletes). The athletes were
so happy because they felt that someone
was thinking about their well-being during
these hard moments, of covid-19
