Achievement Centers for Children
We empower children and adults with disabilities
and their families to achieve their greatest potential.
Founded in 1940 as the Society for Crippled Children, we now serve children and adults
with a broad range of disabilities and special needs including autism, cerebral palsy,
Down syndrome, and other physical, developmental, neurological and emotional
challenges. Our unique, comprehensive service model weaves together education and autism
services; therapy services and the Intensive Therapy Clinic; recreation, camp and sports
programs; and family support services to meet the needs of the entire family and provide the
best outcomes. The agency serves individuals from birth through adulthood, with a special
focus on children from birth through age five.
Over 2,500 children and adults throughout Greater Cleveland and beyond received services
last year at our three locations, as well as throughout the community in child care centers,
schools and homes.
ACCREDITATION AND LICENSURE
The Achievement Centers’ programs and services are licensed and accredited by:
Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), ADAMHS Board of Cuyahoga County,
The American Camp Association, The Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International
(PATH Intl.), Medicaid, Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services, Ohio Department of Developmental
Disabilities, Ohio Department of Education, Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, and
the Ohio Department of Health. The Achievement Centers earned a 4-star rating by Charity Navigator, the
highest rating possible. The Achievement Centers for Children is proud to be a United Way partner agency.
Dear Friends
Our dream for children and adults with disabilities is a future where individuals of
varying abilities have opportunities to live life to the fullest. Our rJouleliies tBooplraonvdid,e the

As part of our strategic planning process and execution, we have identified four guiding
areas for the organization:

I Leadership and Talent by attracting the most passionate and talented staff
I Foster Relationships and collaborations to maximize impact for our mission

growth in new and different ways, but most importantly, they will create a pathway
—Walt Disney to achieving our dream.
Each of you—families, staff, members of the Cleveland business community, donors and
volunteers to the Achievement Centers for Children, and funders of services—recognizes
that individuals with disabilities have unique challenges. Each of you have invested in
providing the resources to shift the focus from disability to ability. Your dedication and
support will help the Achievement Centers move closer toward a more inclusive
community, one that values everyone’s abilities and fosters opportunities for growth.
We thank you for your commitment to our mission, our children, adults and their families.
