Breeder/Owner: Elena Lamberson

Euro was a wonderful show and field dog. She easily finished her show championship and
loved field work. She was an incredible hunter with a great nose and stylish, staunch point.
Unfortunately, she ate birds so we stopped at JH. She was bred to BIF BISS CH Pike's Peak
Silversmith Summit, MH SDX NRD VX BROM FROM and she produced fantastic pups that
excel in both show and field. She has produced seven Champions and three of these are Master
Hunters. Today, she is 9 yrs old and is the queen of our household. We adore our beautiful girl.

Krout has always had an incredible work ethic, she puts in the effort every session with intensity
and style. Krout is a skilled hunter of Pheasants, Grouse and Waterfowl. We have guided many
charity hunts with her for multiple organizations and she has represented Weimaraners very well.
Krout is always cooperative and biddable in the field which makes her very easy to train.
With her Utility and Invitational training, Krout passed her SDX and RDX test with ease.
I chose NAVHDA to prove her versatility and trainability in hopes to preserve the breed as it
was intended.
We feel incredibly blessed to have such a talented girl from our friend and Breeder PM

There are only a few NAVHDAVersatile Champion Weimaraners and only a fewAKC Champion
Tracker Weimaraners. Tani earned both titles in 2021. Tani’s desire to work and her willingness
to cooperate are two characteristics that made her successful in these venues. Without these traits,
dogs don’t succeed at this level. Tani loves to work and loves to be out doing and learning. She
has the drive to persevere through tough training days, terrain, and weather conditions, and she
wants to please. She is a bird machine, has a stylish point, a great retrieve, and an excellent nose
for both tracking and air scenting. Tani loves solving the scenting problems involved in tracking
- especially in urban environments. She works the tracks diligently and loves to find articles. Tani
is easy to live with, has a great off switch, and is a great snuggle buddy.

vegetables such as cauliflower and green
beans.(Vorvick, 2012; University of Mary-

Sweet potatoes, like pumpkin, are a good
source of soluble fiber that can help reg-
ulate your pet’s digestive tract. However,
when choosing between pumpkin and sweet
potato, be aware that sweet potato contains
more than double the calories than pump-

The Bottom Line

Clearly, sweet potatoes are a superi-

sweet potatoes:

• Boost immune function

• Lots of healthy antioxidants, including
vitamin A and carotenoids

WCA Breeder Referral

Expecting Puppies?

by Billie Thompson

A new litter of puppies fills us with excitement, hopes and dreams. It’s a perfect time to
take advantage of your WCA Breeder Referral service.
A few things you might like to know about this service.
• I do not screen inquiries. Instead, that is up to each individual breeder. Breeders

have individual preferences for selecting potential homes for their puppies.
• The greater number of inquiries comes from people wanting a well-bred puppy and

some have also done a little research on the breed.
• The majority of inquiries are from people that do not want to travel far for a pup,

though I encourage them to consider greater distances.
• The majority of inquiries indicate they want to obtain a puppy from a

reputable breeder.
• If no one has listed a litter in an area preferred by an inquiry, I give out contacts for

any local clubs nearby as well.
This service is available to all WCA members. Futurity litters are automatically placed on
the list. If your litter is not nominated, simply email your information to me to be placed
on the list.
Everyone is welcome to notify me as early as pregnancy is confirmed!
Your information should include - sire and dam, approximate due date, your city, state,
email and phone number.
Please send this information to [email protected].
Thank you, and best of luck with your litters!

WCA NWGDC

For the third year in a row, the WCA National
Walking Gun Dog Championship was
embedded in the AKC NWGDC.

The 2022 Championship was held in early April at Mingo Sportsman's Club in
Bloomingdale, Ohio. The course was rolling hills with plenty of cover to hunt.
Early April in Ohio can produce any kind of weather. And it seemed like it did.
During the four days of running, we had wind, rain, snow, ice balls, and mud…lots
of mud. It was a challenging course to walk, as this writer can attest. The trial was
preceded by the AKC (horseback) NGDC, where several Weimaraners were entered.
This venue gives our gray dogs a unique opportunity to compete against not just
other Weimaraners but against the best gun dogs of all breeds across the country.
Weimaraners who are entered are eligible for placements in the WCA and AKC
Championships and all associated points. Fourteen Weimaraners came from near and
far to show their stuff. Notably, the winner, Indy, ably handled by owner John Bonner,
won the 14 dog WCA event and placed second in the 49-dog AKC event.
The stake was a grand stake, which earned him his GFC. Indy placed fourth earlier
in the week in the 50-dog AKC NGDC all-breed horseback stake. It is safe to say
that the 2021 WCA NFC was on a roll.

Page 28

And for the third year in a row, there was a WCA sponsored dinner, compliments of
club member Robbe McAlexander. From all of us that attended, thank you, Robbe!

Below is a synopsis of the top four Weimaraner placers
as written by judges Kelli Aitken and Mark Keegan.

1st Indy
H John Bonner

Indy hunted hard and forward. He displayed the strongest work ethic and
a quality amount of independence while still having a good relationship

with the handler. The icing on the cake for Indy was his spectacular
intensity on point. He had excellent manners and a good amount of

staunchness through the flush.

2nd Bae
H Justin Buehring

Bae had good application with a good gun dog range. She wasn't as
independent as the winning dog, but she had some really nice application
and handled well. Her ground speed was good; she looked like a seasoned

hunting dog covering the ground and was rewarded with quality finds.
She had good manners on her birds and finished almost as
strong as she started.

3rd Dillon
H Frank Sommer

Dillon had a steady pace throughout the hour and finished with the same
power that he started with. His bird work was lovely, and he had an easy
way of covering the country. His work ethic wasn't as strong as our 1st

and 2nd place dogs.

4th Squiggly
H Meredith Mays

Squiggly had a nice performance where she applied herself and hunted
the cover like a nice gun dog. She had some moments where she seemed
to lack confidence, but she overcame those moments with her reach and

honest bird work.

Next year's Championship will be in Thayer, Iowa.
Hope to see you there!!

Have you
Visited the
WCA Website

Lately?

by: Jan Hare,
Webmaster

Our website has been attracting a lot of good attention recently. One of the most
popular features is our extensive Weimaraner records pages with bench, field, and
companion records from the beginning of time (at least in regards to WCA record-
keeping time!), and…PHOTOS! Have you seen all of the PHOTOS? The records section of
the website has been a pet project for me and my assistant webmaster Cindy James-Moore,
who wears many other hats in the organization, and her knowledge of our breed's history
is unmatched.

History is important. Even more important – visual history! Cindy and I have spent the past
three years searching for old WCA magazines and scouring the magazines for photos of
dogs listed in the records pages (OK, Cindy did most of the scouring). Did you notice that
we have EVERY SINGLE magazine since January 1948 scanned and put on the website for
our members to enjoy? That's a lot of scanning, thousands and thousands of pages scanned
(thanks, Cindy!). Recently we have been gifted with some pre-magazine newsletters (1946-
1947) that we scanned and put in the Members Only section of the website on the Magazines
page. They are worth checking out. Those old newsletters have some entertaining articles
that are, shall we say, rather blunt in their opinions on our breed.

We aim to find a photo of every dog listed on the website records pages. Right now, we
have almost 2,000 images of dogs on the records pages. Whoa, that's a LOT of photos!
Many photos were found in old magazines, scanned and cropped, and put on the website
for everyone to enjoy. Take a look! If you see a dog listed without a photo and you have
access to a picture of that dog, we would love to have it for the website. If you see a photo
of your dog and would like to submit a different picture for us to use, send it with the dog's
full name and the page it is on, and we will change it for you (please send high-resolution

Page 36

photos if possible). Website submissions should be sent to [email protected] (or
click on my name at the bottom of any page on the website).

A new feature we added is the ability to update your dog's titles on the records pages. This
feature is essential to me as I want these pages to accurately depict our breed's history and
the dogs who made history, including all of their show, field, and performance/companion
titles. If you see your dog listed on one of the pages and it doesn't have the latest titles
earned, please click on the link in the website menu and fill out the form to submit your
dog's titles. However, all titles must be verified by us first before posting, and only AKC/
WCA titles will be listed right now. Remember, we are volunteers, and this verification
will take some time, and editing the website will take even longer, so please be kind and
patient with us!
I hope you are proud of your breed
club's website – it is one of the few
breed websites with a complete
pictorial history of our great dogs
and all historical periodicals and
documents available to members. We
have many more plans in the works,
and we welcome suggestions. This
website has been a true labor of love,
and both Cindy and I hope you love it
as much as we do!
