Within this tool kit, you will find a menu of activities that managers within
our organization have used to increase employee engagement. You'll find

a brief description with recommendations on how to facilitate that
activity with your team. Ultimately, the goal is to provide managers with

fresh new ideas to engage their employees.

CONTESTS

TALENT CONTEST

Employees will submit a 3-5 minute video
showcasing a talent we otherwise wouldn't
know they had. Categories could include
(most creative, most innovative, funniest,
etc.). The team could vote for each category,
and winners would earn a gift card or prizes.
Submissions could be facilitated through E-
mail, Teams or Skype.

STAYCATION PHOTO CONTEST

Our travel options are limited in this climate,
but that doesn't mean you can't create a fun
experience from the comfort of your own
home.Challenge your Employees to submit
pictures of their staycation!

PETS OF RP PHOTO CONTEST

Get to know your employees a bit more by
learning about their pets! Employees will
submit photos of their pets doing something
creative, funny, or cute by a deadline. Voting
runs one week, and the pet with the most
likes or votes wins.

TEAM BUILDING

VIRTUAL BOOST BAR

Since most employees are now remote, we have to make a deliberate effort to connect
with each other. Having a virtual coffee cup with one of your employees is a great way to
maintain connections, so try to do them regularly, just as you would at the office. You can
schedule a recurring video call with your team to connect as a group or a one on one. You
can also encourage your team members to have a cup of coffee with one another.
Encouraging these settings will create opportunities that allow your employees to be
innovative and collaborate on new ideas and processes.

BOOK CLUBS

Book clubs are a great way to encourage an environment of learning and help maintain
connections within your team. Your team can recommend books that are educational (but
also sprinkle in some that are a bit more fun), then host a monthly session to discuss the
book. You will find that your employees will begin to engage with each other about the
book as this creates a topic of conversation.

PLANT TOGETHER

We've all started to spend a little more time in our backyards and patios. A fun team
building activity would be to pot some plants virtually and compare monthly results to
check on the plants' progress. You could event gamify this activity to see who keeps their
plant alive the longest.

your business unit or within the
organization to create some fun
competition. Track your team's steps
weekly and finalize a winning team at the
end of the month. The team with the most
steps could win lunch or gift cards! You can
track steps with a google doc or a shared
spreadsheet!

WEEKLY CHALLENGE

Give your group a challenge every Monday
during your weekly standup or via email,
Teams, or Skype. A weekly challenge could
be to have a virtual lunch meeting with one
of your peers, share craft ideas with the
team, or a favorite recipe the list is
endless. Giving a weekly challenge will
initiate a topic of conversation for the
week, which will help create discussions
amongst your team.

Create a watercooler channel within Teams for random small talk. Team members can share
movies or shows that they are watching, things they find interesting, podcasts
recommendations, book recommendations, etc. Having fun channels is a great way to
avoid back channeling and encourage open conversations among all team members.

VIRTUAL LUNCH ROOMS

Encouraging virtual lunches is helpful, especially for your more extroverted team members.
Having a virtual lunch with one of your peers promotes networking and helps prevent
social isolation and loneliness. You can help facilitate virtual lunches by creating a

allow team members to join and leave the meeting during an allotted time frame.

WEEKLY CLOSEOUT MEETINGS

It is easy to blur lines of work hours when we are at home and continuously within the same
space, which makes work-life balance challenging. At the end of the work-day on Friday'

completed or pending work for the week, celebrate team wins, and weekend plans

Encourage an environment of learning by having your team members host a lunch & learn.

long as the host teaches the team something new. Try toggling between business-related
topics and fun topics.
