กระต่ายกับเตา่ (The Hare and The Tortoise)

ในป่ าแห่งหน่ึง กระตา่ ยตวั หน่ึงชอบอวดโอต้ วั เองวา่ ว่ิงเร็วกวา่ ใครๆ ใน ป่ า เม่ือ
มนั เห็นเต่าเดินชา้ ตว้ มเต้ียมผา่ นมามนั จึงหัวเราะเยาะเยย้ เจา้ เตา่ เตา่ รู้สึกไม่พอใจจึงทา้
กระต่ายให้มาวง่ิ แข่งกนั เมื่อการแข่งขนั เร่ิมข้นึ กระตา่ ยกว็ ่งนาหนา้ เจา้ เต่าไปไกล แต่พอ
ถึงคร่ึงทางกระต่ายกลบั ชะล่าใจแวะนอนพกั ใตต้ น้ ไมใ้ หญ่และเพลอหลบั ไปนานมาก
ขณะที่เจา้ เต่าค่อยๆ เดินไปเรื่อยๆ โดยไม่ไดห้ ยดุ พกั เลย เมื่อกระต่ายตนื่ ข้นึ มากต็ กใจรีบ
วงิ่ ไปท่เี ส้นชัย แต่ก็สายเกินไปเพราะเจา้ เต่าเป็ นผชู้ นะ ยนื รออยทู่ ่เี สน้ ชยั แลว้

เรื่องนสี้ อนให้รู้ว่า : ความประมาทเป็นต้นเหตขุ องความพ่ายแพ้

Once in the forest, there was a hare who boasted of himself being the
fastest runner than anyone else. He laughed at a tortoise when he saw
that the tortoise walked very slow. The tortoise was angry to hear that,
so he challenged the hare to run the race.
The hare started running very fast and led the tortoise out very far. The
hare stopped for a nap in the middle of the race because he was
confident that the tortoise could not follow him. The tortoise kept walking
and walking all the way through the end. When the hare woke up, he
ran quickly to the finish line but it was too late. The tortoise was already
there as the winner.

Moral of the story : Slow and steady wins the race.

ช่วยเหลือ แตไ่ ม่มีใครมาช่วยเขาเลยเพราะคดิ วา่ เขาโกหกเหมือนอยา่ งเคน ท่สี ุดแกะท้งั ฝงู จงึ ถูก
หมาป่ าจบั กินจนหมด

เร่ืองนี้สอนให้รู้ว่า : คนพูดโกหก ย่อมไม่มีใครเช่ือถือ

There was once a young shepherd boy who repeatedly
lied the other to amuse himself. One day he wanted to
have fun so he called out "Wolf Wolf, help me!" The
villagers came out to help him, but was no wolf, The boy
laughed at them happily.

But stortly after this, the wolf truly appeared and
attacked his sheep. The shepherd boy cried out of help
louder than before, but this time nobody came to help him.
And finally, the wolf ate up his and then slipped away in
the forest.

Moral of the story : A liar's truth is seldom believed.

ชาวนาอยู่น้ันเอง มนั ก็เหลือบไปเหน็ พลอยเม็ดงามเมด็ หน่ึงส่องประกาย
ระยิบระยับอยู่บนพืน้ ดนิ แม่ไก่ได้แต่คดิ ในใจว่า "ถ้าชาวนาได้มาพบพลอยเม็ด
งามเม็ดนี้ เขาคงจะดใี จมาก แต่สาหรับเราแล้ว ข้าวเปลือก 1 เมลด็ ยังมคี ่ากว่า

พลอยเมด็ นี้ต้งั มากมาย" แล้วมันก็เดินผ่านพลอยเมด็ น้ันไป

เรือ่ งน้ ีสอนใหร้ ูว้ า่ : ส่ิงที่มีคา่ สาหรบั บางคน อาจไม่มีคา่ เลยสาหรบั อีกคน

One morning, a cock was busily scratching for food in
font of a farmer's house. He unexpectedly a glittery jewel
on the floor. He mumbled to himself "If the farmer was the

one who found this precious stone, he would be really
happy. Well, it's nothing for me. I would rather have a tiny
grain than this jewel." Then, the cock walk away and kept

scratching for food.

Moral of the story : What is a treasure to one may be worthless to another.

เร่ืองน้ีสอนใหร้ ู้วา่ : ทาคณุ กบั คนชวั่ มีแตจ่ ะไดร้ ับความเดือนร้อน
One morning in winter, the farmers have left home to work on
the way he met the snake. On the ground lay snake, stiff and
frozen with the cold. The farmer knew how deadly the snake could
be, and yet he picked it up and put it in his bosom to warm it back
to life.
When a snake gets warm, It's getting better and more
powerful. A Snake bites a farmers who had been so kind to it and
go away. The farmer's very painful and die.

Moral of the story : The greatest kindness will not bind the ungrateful.

ตระครบุ ไกท้ ันที ป๊ับ! แลว้ มนั ก็ถกู กบั ดกั จบั ตวั เขา้ จนได้ มนั จึงไดแ้ ตค่ ดิ ในใจว่า

"พ่อมองเห็นกบั ดกั แตฉ่ นั มองไม่เห็น"

One day a little fox went for a hunt by himself, and he got a big quail
home. "I can go hunting without you, dad" The little fox said to his dad.
Since then, the little fox did not listen to hid dad. One night, the little fox
sneaked out and follow his dad when he was out for the hunt. When they
both were close to the farmer's house, the dad run to the other way. On the
other hand, the little fox run to the house because he saw a chicken in the
framer's barnyard. He thought "Dad is probably too old to see the chicken"
After that, he ran to the barnyard and snapped at the chicken. He was
suddenly caught in the framer's trap. Then he realized that his dad was not

too old to see the chicken, but he saw the trap.

Moral of the story : People have more experience is good teacher.

ในคืนน้ันเอง ก็เกิดพายุพัดรุนแรงมาก ต้นโอ๊คพยายามยืนต้านพายุแต่ก็ต้านไม่ไหว จึงหักโค่น
ลง ส่วนต้นอ้อน้ันเอนลู่ตามแรงพายุ และเม่ือพายุผ่านไป ต้นอ้อก็กลับชูใบขึ้นเช่นเดิม

เรื่องน้ีสอนใหร้ ู้ว่า : โอนออ่ นตามสถานการณ์ ดีกวา่ กา้ วร้าวจนเกิดอนั ตราย

By the riverbank, there were a very large oak stood near some
reeds. When the wind blew, the reeds bowed low in the wind. The oak
said "You are so weak, my friend. Only the light breeze, you couldn't
even stand up." " Unlike, I'm not scared of anything. I stand upright
when the wind blows" the oak continued.

On the night, the great storm came and the oak fought against the
storm. Afttrr all his effort, he still could not stand against the wind.
Finally, the oak fell but the reeds were survived.

Moral of the story : It is better to be bend than to be broken.

One humid day in the summer, a lion and a goat were dying of
thirst. Once they found a puddle, they began fighting for the

water. They fought and became really tired. After a battle, they
laid down for a rest. And then the lion saw vultures were flying
circle around in the sky. “I think we better compromise and share
the water or we keep fighting until one loses and becomes their
food.” said the lion. The goat agreed with the lion, and at the

end they share water to drink.

Moral of the story : Share something better than lose everything.

เรื่องน้ีสอนให้รู้วา่ : ไม่ควรหวา่ นลอ้ มให้ผอู้ ่ืนเห็นดีในสิ่งทีไ่ ม่ดี

A fox was caught in a hunter trap and lose his tail. He was
ashamed that he now became a tailless fox. So when he met his

friends, he convinced all the other foxes to chop off their
tails.“Our tails are heavy to carry around and make us run so
slow. Look! How fast I can run now?” said the fox. “Let’s cut your
tails like me” said the fox. Then there was an old fax said “You
lied to everyone, didn’t you? I know you were ashamed that you
lose your tall, and you wanted us to be like you.” Once the other
foxes heard that, none ot them believed in what the fox said.

Moral of the story : Distrust interested advice.

A poor woodcutter working near the river with his very old axe, he accidentally
dropped his axe into the river. He was very upset, as he had no money to buy

another axe.

Suddenly, the fairy appeared to help the woodcutter, the fairy go to the river to
find axe. Shortly a fairy return with the golden axe and ask “I found this axe in the

river. Is this yours?” “That’s not mine” replied the woodcutter.
The fairy return again with the silver axe and ask “I found this axe in the river. Is

this yours?” “That’s not mine” replied the woodcutter.
The fairy return again with the very old axe and ask “I found this axe in the river.
Is this yours?” “That’s mine. Thank you very much.” replied a woodcutter and smiling

with happiness.
The fairy seeing his honesty, such honesty deserves a reward. She gave the poor

woodcutter all the three axes and disappeared.

Moral of the story : Honesty never go waste.

There was a dog running cross the bridge with a piece of meat in his mouth. While
he was on the bridge, he looked down and saw another dog with larger piece of
meat. He immediately let go of his own, and fiercely barked and attacked another
dog to get that larger piece. But as he opened his mouth, his own meat was
dropped into the water. So he lost both, but it was too late for him to realize that
what he saw was his own shadow reflected in the water.

Moral of the story : Beware lest you lose the substance by grasping at
the shadow.
