Meet Amanda Pung, Access Services Librarian
Amanda Pung is the Access Services Librarian at our Vet-
erans Memorial Branch. As Access Services Librarian,
Amanda oversees the circulation desk, the pages who work
behind it, as well as the pages in the computer lab, and or-
dering of materials for all of the branches. Read our inter-
view with Amanda to see what experiences she brings with
her to Chippewa River District Library.
What did you do before you came to the li-
brary?
My first job was at my local library where I grew up. I
started there when I was 14 years old and worked there
for four years, primarily shelving books. I then attended
Central Michigan University and received my Bachelor of
Science in Public and Nonprofit Administration. While I was
working on my undergrad, I spent summers at Sleepy Hol-
low State Park as a park ranger. My last semester of college I interned for the State of Michigan
at the Department of Environmental Quality, so I have been all over.
When did you start at the library and what jobs have you held here?
I started at Veterans Memorial Library in January of 2017, when I was still at CMU. I was a circu-
lation and computer page for a year and a half, so you may recognize me from the computer lab
or the circulation desk. In June of 2018, I moved to Shepherd Community Library and became
the Assistant Branch Manager there. After being in Shepherd for a year, the opportunity arose
for me to come back to Veterans Memorial Library as the Access Services Librarian. I started in
that position in June of this year.
What do you do in your current position?
In my current position I am in charge of all the Computer and Circulation Pages. I also oversee
the circulation desk and all of the policies that relate to circulation. I also purchase all of the
adult and juvenile nonfiction materials for all five branches. You can also see me at the reference
desk every now and then.
What do you enjoy doing outside of the library?
I, of course, enjoy reading and my favorite genre is historical fiction. I love anything history. I
also like to watch the Food Network, although I don’t like to cook, and I watch true crime docu-
mentaries. I have two cats who I adore, Sammie and Zeke. And, I love to travel. The farthest I
have been is to the South Island of New Zealand, which was beautiful. Spending time with family
and friends is very important to me.

Classic TV Shows at the Library!
Chippewa River District Library has a great selection of classic TV shows from the 1950s, 1960s and
1970s, as well as more recent. Take a blast to the past by checking out a DVD of Bewitched, The Andy
Griffith Show, The Beverly Hillbillies, and more. If you are into Mid-Century decor, many of these
