Meet Tinna Mills, Teen Programming Coordinator
Tinna Mills is the Teen Programming Coordinator at our
Veterans Memorial Branch. As Teen Programming Coordina-
tor, Tinna creates all of the fun programming for teens and
orders materials relating to young adult for the library's
collection. Read our interview with Tinna to see what expe-
riences she brings to Chippewa River District Library.
What did you do before you came to the li-
brary?
I worked at a grocery store and a gas station during my
years at Alma College where I majored in English with mi-
nors in history and secondary education. I also worked at
the college library and in the writing center. I spent some
time working for the after school program in the Alma pub-
lic schools and even had one gig that allowed me to travel
to local schools as an actress in assemblies put on by Child
Advocacy of Gratiot County. As a teenager, I volunteered at Home Township Library in Edmore.
When did you start at the library and what jobs have you held here?
I started working for CRDL soon after I received my undergraduate degree in 2003. I have
worked in youth services with a focus on teen services during my entire tenure here. Though the
job title is the same, the day to day work looks a lot different 16 plus years later. Libraries are
always changing to meet the needs of our community.
What do you do in your current position?
My focus as the Teen Services Librarian is on providing quality services to the teens of our com-
munity. That means helping to create a space where they feel welcome. We have many different
groups of teens, with varying interests, so I get to do a little bit of everything. You might find me
working in the stacks with teen volunteers, hosting a Super Smash Brothers tournament, hosting
themed parties with our Teen Advisory Board or even collaborating with community members
to teach basic stress relief skills. I also work at the Help Desk as well as lead some of our story-
times. No two days are ever the same!
What do you enjoy doing outside of the library?
Believe it or not, I’m actually an introvert so when I’m not at work, so I like to recharge in quiet
places. Of course, I love reading! I spend a lot of time with my husband and our ten-year-old
daughter. We do family read-a-loud's and audiobook discussions. Hoopla digital is our FAVORITE
library resource. We wouldn’t know what to do without our library even if I didn’t work here! We
use the library puzzle exchange to keep ourselves in endless jigsaw puzzles or we get creative
coloring and painting just for fun. We also spend as much time as possible outdoors. If we have
a free day you are very likely to find us at the Chippewa Nature Center or one of the Chippewa
Watershed Conservancy’s many local preserves. We love to attend bonfires in the summer or
play card games with family & friends.

CRDL READERS ADVISORY
MEET ME ON LOVE LANE (HOPELESS ROMANTICS #2)
NINA BOCCI
I was crying happy tears as I finished this. What a perfect example of a childhood
friends-to-lovers/ kind of a second chance romance. Hands down, my heart hasn’t
felt this full and melted in a while.
While I truly did enjoy the first book in this series, On the Corner of Love and Hate,
that pales in comparison to this. I was initially a tiny bit leery about the possibili-
ty of a love triangle and of the possibility that the person that I liked better might
NOT being chosen. You don’t have to worry about any of that. I knew it right from
the prologue and was so excited to see how things were going to pan out. You see,
I am constantly changing what romance trope I love best. Is it friends to lovers? Is
it hate to love? It really depends on the exact situation and the specific writing and
characters. While hate to love always seems to be more steamy and explosive once
the couple FINALLY gets together, there is something about friends to lovers that
ALWAYS takes my breath away and has my heart pounding deep within my chest.
And what could make that situation even better? Well, obviously those friends hav-
ing been childhood best friends, that’s what.
In the beginning of this book we see Charlotte coming back to Hope Lake after a series of very unfortu-
nate events back in NYC. She moved away when she was really young after her mom and dad’s tumul-
tuous divorce and hasn’t been back since so in her mind, this homecoming is going to be short-lived and
last only throughout the summer while she can get back on her feet. She ends up staying with her Gigi
(who, is obviously one of my favorite characters because she’s so darn sassy and scandalous and made
me miss my grandma something fierce) and immediately falls back into a fast friendship with Emma. One
of the most interesting parts about this book was Charlotte’s memory. When she gets back to Hope Lake,
she basically remembers NOTHING about her childhood there because being forced to leave had been so
traumatic on her. That includes Henry. Sweet Henry. Let me tell you, characters like him are what keep me
going back to romance time and time again. He’s an ENGLISH TEACHER, sweet, caring, wears tight shirts,
and does nice things for Gigi (like gets her secret binge-purchases sent to his house so she won’t get in
trouble with Charlotte’s dad, lol).
Every interaction that they had together had me on the edge of my seat and had my heart in my throat.
He was so tentative at first and basically heartbroken at the thought of her not remembering him or leav-
ing him again. *sobs* And then I lost it at the end when Charlotte finds a certain something and realizes
stuff because of that certain something. Seriously, tears just ah-streaming down my face the entire time.
Basically all you need to know is that this book is really good and will grab you by the heart and not let go.
I am so glad I got my hands on it and I can’t wait for Parker and Nick’s book!

we are. This applies to each person, community, state,
country and collectively the world.
Chippewa River District Library has a collection of books on local history, access to An-
cestry Library Edition and MyHeritage Library Edition, and monthly help for genealogy
searches with the assistance of volunteers from the Genealogical Society of Isabella
County. Even Clarke Historical Library can offer assistance in your search for your histo-
ry.
CRDL and local organizations may have the information you are looking for. Take a look
at what is available for your next search.
