The Maxxis family and Kian Hon believe in the im-
portance of optimising the use of raw materials,
and in providing sustainable and cost-saving solu-
tions for fleet users. Thus, with the full support and
involvement of Maxxis, Kian Hon will construct a
tread rubber production line and will expand its
retreading plant in Penang, Malaysia, increasing

the plant’s production to 120,000 retreaded tyres annually when
running at full capacity.

By 2013, with the assistance of Kian Hon, reading plants in Indo-
nesia and the Philippines will be set up by local Maxxis partners.

This collaborative effort will constitute a total investment of USD
$20 million and will create 200 to 400 new jobs.

Kian Hon is proud to share its TBR and retread expertise and
expects this cooperation will further strengthen Maxxis’ market
share in Asia.

ous performance improvements on safety, driving experience
and efficiency. In terms of safety, our tests showed that Cinturato
P1 was 4% better on the dry surface, 3% better on the wet sur-
face as compared to previous product. It was also 4% better on
straight road and 5% better on curves. For driving experience,
it showed a 5% improvement on hub impact and 18% better on
dumping impact. Whilst, for the efficiency tests, Cinturato P1 was
25% better in rolling resistance, 4% better in fuel saving and can

brainstorming session, ATI has given a brief presentation
on the performance test of 3 year old tyres (manufactured
in 2008) as compared to fresh tyres(manufactured in 2011).
The tyre size used in these tests was 195/65/15.

The result shows that driver did not feel any differences be-
tween the two sets of tyres on the wet performance. On the
durability test in the control condition, there were no obvious

ing distance on the wet roads at 80km/hour for the 3 years

As part of their environmental efforts, NSTDA’s an-
