Chapters 1-8

Prologue

Question: What is the purpose of the stranger’s trip?
My Answer: The purpose of the stranger’s trip is to find someone he is missing.

Question:According to the narrator, how do people act during this month?
My Answer:According to the narrator, people acted strange by doing weird

stuff at the same day of three people doing strange stuff during the month of
august.

My Answer: no one ever goes into the woods because it has a sleeping feeling to it.

Summarize
Chapters 1-8

In chapters 1-8 of Tuck Everlasting, it describes how Winnie Foster meets the
Tucks.In the beginning of the book Winnie lives in an overprotective house in the
village of Treegap with her parents and grandmother.Their house is on the edge of
the woods they own but never go into.meanwhile Tucks are getting excited to see
their sons, jessie and miles, whom they have not seen in ten years. Mae is heading
off to meet them, but they say that she has to be careful not to be seen. She does
not look in the mirror before she goes because it says she has looked the same for
the past 87 years. May takes along her music box as she goes off to meet her
sons.Next Winnie has a conversation with a toad. She talks about how hard her life is
and she decides to run away.After that,That night Winnie heads out to her yard and
meets a stranger walking by who asks her about the woods and the people she
knows in the area. He tells her that he is looking for a family. Winnie’s grandmother
comes out to tell Winnie to go inside. Just then some music is heard in the woods.
The grandmother says it is the elf music she hasn’t heard in years. Winnie thinks it
sounds like a music box and the stranger is very interested in it.Next Winnie runs
away into the woods and meets a cute boy named jesse who is drinking from a
spring. Winnie wants to take a drink but jessie said she shouldn't Not long later May
and miles arrived at the spring and take winnie off in order to keep her from drinking
the water next The tucks tell winnie their story of drinking from the spring and never
ageing again Last but not least Winnie willingly goes with the tucks back to their
house. They are not aware that the stranger is also watching.

My Answer:Winnie has to understand why it is not good to be immortal.

Chapters 9-17

In chapters, 9-17 Winnie is riding with the tucks to their
home. When they got home Mae and Winnie went to meet
Angus tuck. Next Mae was touring the house for Winnie
witch the house was messy but Winnie liked the house. no
too long later Winnie was eating with the tucks and then
after dinner Angus said wanted to talk to Winnie on a
rowboat. Later Angus takes Winnie out on a ride on the
rowboat and talks to her about why it is so bad to be
mmortal and then miles yells the horse is stolen. not long
ater the stranger goes to the fosters and says he knows
where Winnie is. next, they are going to bed witch not too
ong later both Mae and Angus come at different times and
talks to her about her being her child then Jesse came and
talked to her about she should become immortal at 17. nex
the stranger makes a deal with the fosters that he will get
Winnie and he gets the wood. The next day the stranger is
with someone traveling to the tucks house to get Winnie.
Winnie went out fishing with miles and when he caught a
fish she said to put it back.

Chapter 18 Question:Explain the lie Miles told for Winnie.
My Answer:Miles told a lie for winnie because she did not want to catch a fish. And if he

said that she said to put the fish back they would talk about it.

My Answer:the Tucks and the stranger knew the same person because they were giving

evidence of… oldest of two boys who did not change for twenty years.

My Answer: the Tucks have a problem because if the stranger dies the mae will get

hanged and cant die. Also if the stranger lives he will take winnie and make her drink the

What does the reader learn from the epilogue in this novel? Do
you think the epilogue was necessary? That the tucks went
back to find winnie but they find her grave. I think the epilogue
was necessary because it shows that the tucks were nice and
tried to go back to winnie, and that winnie was smart and did
not drink the water.

Summarize

Chapters 18-25

In chapter 18 miles did not say that winnie did not want to
catch the fish and at the end of the chapter the stranger
came to there door. Next the stranger was talking to the
tucks and took winnie, but he could not get far cause mae
shot him, but just then the constable saw her kill the
stranger.after that the constable said if he died mae will get
hanged, but if the stranger lives she wont get hanged.
When she got home her mom, dad, and grandma were
waiting and she realized that the stranger had to die or else
he would sell the spring. The next day winnie went outside
and found jesse outside form the fence and talked to her
about breaking mae out because the stranger died and she
would disguise herself as mae to buy time for the tucks to
escape that night she was questioning if she should do it or
not. At midnight she met miles jesse and tuck and went to
the jailhouse, when they were done getting mae out winnie
went in. was getting taken back by the constable and she
couldn't leave her fence without one of her parents or
grandma

Winnie loves the tucks
and she hates being not
allowed to leave her
house and yard. Winnie
is courageous, rich and
not respected. Winnies
fear is that she will never
leave her house/yard.
She hopes she will get
freedom sometime.

Jesse is old, polite, smart
and caring. He loves winnie
and he hates the stranger.
He fears that winnie will not
drink the water when she is
17. He hopes that winnie
will drink the water when
shes 17 and go with him.

Miles is old, courageous
tall, polite, smart, caring
and respected. he loves
his family and fishing. He
hates living forever and
the stranger. He fears
that everyone will know
about the spring. He
hopes he will see his
family again.

Angus tuck is a smart, kind
man. he is caring for the
people he loves he lives in
a place called treegap. He
is not to lazy but he is also
not to energetic. He is
unpopular and no one
knows him. He fears that
people will find out about
the spring.

Mae is old, polite,
unpopular, poor, and
caring. She loves
her family and
winnie. She hates
living forever and the
stranger. Her fear is
that everyone
drinking from the
spring. She hopes
stop living forever.

The stranger is middle age,
tall, rude,unpopular, and
selfish. He loves money and
the spring. He hates the
tucks. His fear is that he will
get caught. He hopes that he
can sell water and get rich.

ambivalent, however at the climax it became
more incredulous

tuck was talking to winnie why it's not good to
live forever.

The theme is that some stuff is not always the
best thing.

Miles dismantles the jail cell window and helps
Mae escape. Winnie is there to provide support. If
the constable hears their escape, they’re doomed!

Mae get so mad at The Man in the Yellow The constable comes into the jail
Suit that she hits him over the head with cell to find Winnie has taken
the gun and kills him. Mae’s place and helped her
escape.
The Man in the Yellow Suit tells Winnie’s
parents that if they don’t give him what he Winnie sees a dog wanting
wants he won’t tell them where their to attack the toad so she
daughter is. rescues him and pours the
fountain water on him.
Winnie sneaks off into the forest and
discovers a boy drinking from a small
stream. Then his family kidnaps her.

Winnie’s family controls her. They won’t let her try
anything risky to make a difference in the world like she
wants to.

A girl names Winnie Winnie lives in a forest area The Tuck family continues to stay young while
Foster lives with her that her family owns near Winnie ages and dies. A fire burns down the woods
family by a wood they the town of Treegap. It’s in and covers the secret forever. The toad lives forever
own that no one goes the past with wagons because of the water from Winnie.
