“Keeping the Crescent Family Connected with
News and Events Throughout the Crescent Portfolio!”

Michael’s Message

Crescent’s annual Leadership Conference is an event that I always look forward
to. Not only is it filled with learning sessions from experts in every discipline, it
is also an opportunity to reconnect with each other, reinforcing the bond be-
tween the corporate office and our hotels. We also take time to honour outstanding
results for the previous year. This year’s award winners show that consistency is key,
as several of them also won awards last year. Doing what you do best day in and day
out can be rewarding on many levels. For many, the satisfaction of a job well done,
knowing that you have made an impact on your guests and fellow associates is the best
reward, but it is important to us as a company to recognize those efforts publicly. The
individuals and teams featured inside this issue of the Crescent Connection deserve the
spotlight, but they are all part of teams that ensured their success. I would like to take
this time to congratulate all of this year’s award winners, but also to thank every hotel
and every associate for giving their best every day. You are all winners!

Wishing you all the very best,

Michael George

Shining Bright!

The most anticipated moment of the Annual Leadership Conference is the announcement of our Brightest Stars.
This year, Crescent was thrilled to welcome our winners to the Sheraton Bay Point Resort in Florida, where
they were honored at our awards gala. We are excited to share with you that Carlos Diaz, Bell Captain at the
DoubleTree by Hilton New York Times Square West and Daniel Melake, Night Audit Manager from Sheraton Tysons
Hotel, were this year’s recipients. Both have demonstrated exemplary levels of customer service, are true team
players, and have won the hearts of guests and co-workers alike. Thank you both for always giving the extra
effort— our success as a business and as a great place to work is because of you and others like you.

2018 Leadership Conference

Sheraton Bay Point Resort in Panama City, Florida was the setting for this year’s Leadership Conference. The property
recently completed a multi-million dollar renovation and was happy to show the rooms and public spaces to our Gen-
eral Managers and Directors of Sales. Having a group of over 200 people descend on your property can be stressful,
but the team at the Sheraton Bay Point Resort executed perfectly—from check in to check out, luggage and transportation,
food and beverage to housekeeping, and all the details of the meetings, the associates at the property handled everything
with grace and precision. Thank you to General Manager Jean Capps and the entire team for making Crescent’s Annual Lead-
ership Conference so memorable!

Day One of conference consisted of a welcome address from CEO Michael George, and was followed by learning ses-
sions on such topics as “Exceeding Guest Expectations” and a client panel made up of our hotel owners. Day Two saw a con-
tinuation of seminars and also included Town Hall meetings with the General Managers and Directors of Sales. Participants
always look forward to the free time activities, which this year, highlighted the incredible facilities of the resort: deep-sea
fishing, golf, and more. The unmistakable highlight of the week, though, was certainly the Awards Gala. After feasting on a
delicious dinner, Crescent’s leaders took to the stage to announce the recipients of this year’s awards, based on performance
in 2017. Please join us in congratulating all of the following for their exceptional performance!

Heroes in Action

In the hospitality industry, you never know what may happen on any given day. We make a difference in the lives of our
guests every day by making them feel welcome at our hotels, exceeding their expectations, and going above and beyond
the call of duty to assist. In April, General Manager Larry Brown from the Crowne Plaza Farmington (Michigan) made a
real difference by saving the life of a contractor who was working on the property. When the worker passed out, Larry
jumped into action by performing CPR until paramedics arrived. The gentleman survived, and paramedics have said Larry’s
actions saved his life.

The Crowne Plaza at JFK Airport recently recertified their team on First Aid, CPR and Blood-borne Pathogens, as did
the Detroit Marriott Livonia. We encourage all properties to do the same!
