Welcome!
Starting school is an exciting time and the start of a
wonderful journey. Your child will grow and thrive at our
school. We know that some children may feel nervous
about some aspects so we have shared some ideas in
this booklet of how you can help to prepare them.
Remember, all children start school with different skills
and talents. We are here to help them progress at their
own pace.
What's most important is that you and your child have
fun together, talking, sharing stories, playing games and
exploring new things.

Uniform and PE Kit
We have a uniform policy in place in school. Children should wear 7
a polo shirt with a school jumper or cardigan displaying the
school logo. Our jumpers are jade green. Dark bottoms should
be worn – skirt, trousers, pinafore dresses. NO JEANS please. All
children should wear black shoes. It is also really important to put your
child's name in all their belongings.
In Reception they get changed for PE once a week and we ask for a PE
kit to be kept in a bag on their peg. This should include a plain tshirt,
plain shorts/leggings and plimsolls/trainers.
We promote the use of book bags for children to bring their reading
books and letters home in.
Our school uniform can be ordered via the school office or from Pinders
directly: https://pindersschoolwear.com/
SDcinhnoeorls ur school dinners are provided by a company called Taylor Shaw.
All children in Reception are eligible for a free school meal, this
Ocontinues until they reach Y3. Choices will include a meat option,
a halal option, a vegetarian option, a jacket potato or a sandwich.
Alternatively, children can bring a packed lunch.
When arriving at school, we ask parents to discuss the options with their
child before selecting a meal. Children then tell the teaching assistant what
they would like for their dinner.
All reception children eat in our dining room supported by our lunchtime
supervisors. Children are encouraged to use cutlery independently, however
adults are always on hand if they need support.

The SHAPE of our school:
Expectations(Attitudes to Learning) Genuinely, and with integrity, our curriculum will
“ prepare pupils for the next stage, whatever
that may be. We do this with Reading and
Oracy at our core so that children have a love and
passion for language and vocabulary, are able to
articulate knowledge and build exceptional relationships
in school and the wider world.
Our curriculum is well planned, well sequenced thus
altering the long term memory so that schema is strong
and secure. This is an offer that we provide for all
learners and in all subjects.
“ Our curriculum is an exceptional offer that provides
children with the knowledge and skills to feel
empowered to have a burning desire to do good in the
world, through stimulating and thought provoking
topics, creating awe and wonder. 9

We Communicate in a Variety of Ways
We really value communication with
parents at our school. We encourage
parents/carers to be actively involved in
their child's learning.
Class Dojo is an app that we use to communicate
events and celebrate things happening in school.
You will receive information on how to sign up.
We also have a very strong fundraising group who
hold regular events to raise money for school. If
you are interesting in joining the group or helping
at events please speak to Mrs Stevenson.
Parent feedback is always encouraged at our
school. We have an open door policy for parents
to speak to school staff when needed. Various
other opportunities for parental feedback will be
made available throughout the year including
parent evenings.
