Their presentations delved into thedetection and dynamics of HABs, highlighting the crucial role of earlydetection technologies in preventing significant harm to marine farming andmitigating broader environmental effects caused by these blooms.OutcomeThe symposium acted as a critical nexus for knowledge exchange, engaging notonly IOCAS and IOES but also members from the Department of Fisheries, UMT,UIA, and UNIMAS. These institutions came together to share their latest researchand strategies for tackling Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs). A standout contributionfrom IOCAS was the introduction of the \"HAB Extinguisher,\" an innovativetechnology with the potential to significantly reduce the ecological impact ofthese blooms. The event facilitated networking and fostered cross-institutionaland international collaborations. It also emphasized the importance of raisingpublic awareness and imparting education about HABs, highlighting the need forsustainable practices to prevent such environmental challenges.8
