IOES hasorganized various engaging activities, including an insightful lectureon harmful algal blooms by Dr Monaliza Mohd Din, a fascinatingsession on examining microorganisms under microscopes,demonstrations of various scientific sampling instruments, and afun introduction to scuba diving. Inaddition, his colleague, Prof. Stanley Chun Kwan Lau also held a sharingsession related to the Master of Science program at the Department ofOcean Science (OCES), HKUST. https://ioes.um.edu.myDelegates from Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) visited IOESBachok Marine Research Station in Kelantan on 22 April 2024. There were 43METMalaysia delegates, led by Mr Ambun Dindang, Deputy Director General(Strategic & Technical). The majority of the METMalaysia personnel are from thePetaling Jaya headquarters. Several METMalaysia personnel from the Kelantan andTerengganu stations also participated. IOES BMRS representatives on the dayincluded Dr Fadzil Mohd Nor, Mr Muhammad Al'Amin, Mr Ahmad Amin, Mr Mohd NorliRopidi, and a few station administrative workers.The event began with a welcoming remarks by Dr Fadzil Mohd Nor (IOES), followed byDr Ahmad Fairudz Jamaluddin (METMalaysia), who explained the existingcollaboration between METMalaysia and IOES Bachok. Mr Muhammad Al'Amin (IOES)later explained the facilities available at IOES BMRS. Mr Ahmad Amin then led thedelegates to the Global Atmospheric Watch (GAW) Tower, where he explained theinstruments available at the tower. Some participants were also taken to thedormitory, and then to the labs at the IOES main building. They toured the researchlaboratories, where they witnessed the intricacies of scientific investigations and thereal-world application of theoretical knowledge.10

The MoU wassigned by Dr. Mohd Hisham bin Mohd Anip, Deputy Director General (Operations) ofMetMalaysia and Prof. Dr. Juan Joon Ching, Chairman of Frontiers of the NaturalWorld Cluster and Dr. Ahmad Fairuz bin Jamaluddin (Director, Atmospheric Scienceand Cloud Seeding Division, MetMalaysia) and Prof. Dr. Lim Phaik Eem, ExecutiveDirector of IOES served as witnesses. Prof. Juliet Brodie and Dr. Sophie Corriganfrom the Natural History Museum, London alsodelivered a seminar titled \"Conserving Wild Seaweedsfor The Future of the Global Seaweed Industry\".
