6 OLD SKOOL SHENG WORDS AND THEIR NEW REPLACEMENTS
I know we can disagree on so many things. But at this point, one thing that
we can agree on is that sheng has changed and become a language that now
needs a sheng kamusi.
Now that we have cool sheng words, it’s clear that in the 70s and 80s our
sheng was really boring. I can’t believe we called Police – Ponyi it sounds
boring. But it’s understandable since that’s all we knew. Anyway, here are 6
OLD NEW
1. Ponyi/Sinya Karao (police)
2.
3. Mkanyo Dibre (Bread)
4. Dem yako Manzi yako (your girl friend)
5. Fathe Budangu (my dad)
6. Mathe Mdhama(my mom)

spoken language.

3. Kula ridhe – Being short with a gun
4. Kuingiza fridge – When you are afraid of something(some say Kuingiza njeve)
5. Mguu ya kuku – It’s basically a gun
6. Chakas – Mbaya. (Kumeharibika ile chakas)
7. Ngafee – This is coffee
8. Ngwete – This is chicken(Tukule ngwete leo)

6 things that Busy Kenyans can do to stay healthy
If you are a very busy Kenyan till you lack time to take care of yourself, I don’t
blame you. Things are tough most of the time so you do what you have got to
do to make ends meet. Today lets help you take note of a few things that you
can do within your busy schedule to keep healthy. Here they are:
1. Exercise to and from work – If you’re reading this matatu advertiser, then it
means that you use matatus to and from work. For you to exercise enough, try
alighting a small distance away from the office and walk. Also avoid taking lifts
to the office and take the stairs. Anytime you’re doing errands in town avoid
boda bodas. Embrace walking all through the week. During the weekends,
spare at least an hour for walking or running.
2. Eating Healthy – If you can’t carry food from home, identify a food store
that makes healthy foods and be eating from there. If you’re a fun of Nyama
choma, Chips, chicken and other junk foods, avoid the part of town that sells
this kind of food. Otherwise if you keep going there, trust me you will not resist
for long and you will take the nyama choma/junk food all through the week.

3. Drink lots of water – Let that water dispenser in your office know you by
name. Always make a habit of having a glass or bottle of water by your side in
the office. Sip the water little by little all through the day. It will help you stay
hydrated.
4. Entertainment – all work without play will make you very dull. Get some-
thing that you can do for fun probably after work or several times in a week. It
will help you have an exciting life.
5. Sleep well – Don’t be too busy to sleep. For you to operate at full potential,
rest enough. When you get to home after work, try to sleep as early as possi-
ble because you have to wake up early.
6. Hospital Checkups - You don’t have to be sick to go and see the doctor.
Once in a while, just visit your clinic or hospital for a routine checkup of how
your body is doing.
