Preface

1

My house is located in Mueang district. There are
many Buddhist temples there but there are a few other
religious communities. And I am going to show you the
Christain church which is located in this area.

Introduction

Every religion has its traditions, beliefs, and rituals so
it also has important buildings to practice or have
ceremonies. This E-book will show about the Christian
church where Christians often use this place to celebrate or
do something on the important day which you will also find
some activities here.

History

In 1835, Patriarch Courtesy appointed Father
Pallegua to assume the duty of "Vicar general" to take care

2

of the religion in Thailand and on June 3, 1838, was
appointed bishop. Then he went to Singapore, Myeik, and
Penang to visit the Christian faithful there. Because the
Church's modern rule extends to the southern end as well.
And also Father Albrand (P. Albrand M.E.P.) worked well
with the Chinese people as well. Up to 200 people apply to
become Christians in one year. The bishop then asked the
father to help take care of the Chinese Christians. which
existed and taught the Chinese teachings that existed in
Thailand at that time So Father Albrand stayed at Kalwar
Temple (Talad Noi, Bangkok), which became a Chinese
temple. Father made a large number of Chinese people
apply to become Christians. both in Bangkok and other
provinces which his father went out to visit regularly.

The first group of ristangs at Bang Chang (Bang Nok
Khwaek, Samut Songkhram) and Don Khrueang, Mae
Klong, "Tha Chin'', Nakhon Chai Si (Wat Saint Peter,
Sampran), Wat Pak Lat, and Wat Pak Nam (Samut Prakan),
Pak Preaw and Paed Riew were born because Father

Albrand And these days, there are missionaries on the move

as well.

The Christians are

now deserted in Tha Chin. In

1849 Father Marang returned

from France again. Patriarch

Pallegua, therefore,

appointed him to be

stationed at Nakhon Chai Si

temple, started learning Chinese, and went to take care of

the Christians at Bang Chang and don Kabuuang.

When there was a temple but there was no abbot to
live in. In 1882, Father Pio (P.Piau M.E.P.) had just arrived
from France. He was appointed permanent secretary of
Bang Chang temple (Bang Nok Khwaek, Samut
Songkhram). Father was able to speak Thai and Chinese. He
went to visit the Christians at Tha Chin. Then Father saw
that there were quite many Christians, and he believed in it
and decided to build a temple by buying a plot of land in
1886 and began to build the first temple in 1888. The temple
was completed and named "St. Anna's Temple". Even
though it is a temple built of wood It's not that big, but it's
considered appropriate for the Christians at that time. And
it's quite beautiful. This temple lasted until 1983 when it was

added during the reign of Father Theophile in the back part
of the temple.

The era of the Santa Cruz temple was when the
construction of Tha Chin temple was completed. The
bishop appointed Father Pio as the abbot of Santa Cruz
Temple (Wat Kudi Chin) in 1889 and assigned Tha Chin
temple to Santa Cruz Temple. Let the monks in charge of
the Santa Cruz temple take responsibility for Tha Chin
Temple, namely Father Pio and Father Umbrocio, who are
the permanent secretaries, to take care of the Christians at
St. Anna Tha Chin Temple. In 1890, Father Pio was
appointed the abbot of Nakhon Chai Si temple. Saint
Anna's Temple, therefore, moved to be under Nakhon Chai
Si temple with his father but Father Pio is also the abbot of
Santa Cruz Temple to work hard.

During the era of the Nakhon Chai Si temple. Two
years later, in 1895, there was Father René Perros, a young
missionary from Nakhon Chai Si temple who came to take
care of and follow the baptismal documents at the temple as
Father Parros had begun to open the registration of St.
Anna's temple. For the first time, the next year is the year
1896 with Father Laser. and Father Giyu (P.Guillou) and
Father Pio having returned from France. And acted as the
abbot of Nakhon Chai Si temple once again and most of
them came to Saint Anna's temple. Until 1899, He was ill
and had to move back to France and die in 1900, and during

5

this time had father Laser, Father Toclaire, and Father Graff
they alternated to visit, teach teachings, offer Mass but had
not yet come regularly.

During the era of the Kalwar Temple. In 1904, the
Thai government began to open
the Bangkok-Mahachai railway
line for the convenience of
traveling. Patriarch Way so the
monks from Kalwar Temple
took care of St. Anna's Church,
and until 1910, for 6 years,
Father Fairley was there. Father Dominico (Thai) , Father
Bellamy, Father Richard, Father Estewang (Thai), and
Father Perrua take turns.

During the relocation from Tha Chin to Nakhon
Chai Si. Since 1841, there has been an increase in the
number of Christians in the Chinese position. and having a
family who is teaching. Unfortunately, an incident halted
repentance. The event, known as the "Chicken Tale," took
place in July 1849. There are no monks to take care of Tha
Chin. Patriarch Pallégua is worried about Christians at Tha
Chin which is a minority and a new Christian will be
discouraged, therefore arranged to move the Christians at

6

Tha Chin to Nakhon Chaisri (Saint Peter's Church,
Sampran), which is a larger group of Christians.

On May 3, 1982, Father Anthony Vorayut
Kitbamrung was appointed abbot. and stayed at St. Anna's
monastery to take care of the affairs of temples and schools.
It is a new era of Wat Tha Chin. In which the Archdiocese
of Bangkok by Cardinal Michael Michai Kitboonchu has
approved the construction project continuously since the
beginning of 1981, the 3-story school building was extended
until it was completed. and opened in the academic year
1982.

St. Annan Church, Mueang district, This is a picture
of “Mass” or in the full name “The Most Holy Sacrifice of
the Mass” on 19 January 2022 11.30 A.M by Father
Thanakorn Laohabut who brought 24 people on pilgrimage
together at St. Anna Church. The Mass is an extremely
important ritual for Catholics to praise the sacrifice of their
son or Jesus that atone for the sins of mankind even if he
had to sacrifice his body and blood for us according to the
scriptures. There will be bread and wine to represent the
blood of Jesus.
