Today it is time to read and spell
Time for books and for tea

And time to learn the alphabet
For Cloud, for my brother, and me

America is our country
From sea to shining sea
A land of beautiful bounty
Home sweet home where we are free

Beehive is crowded with honeybees
They make a buzzing sound

Humming as loudly as they please
A big bumblebee flies around

Cloud naps in his doghouse
It is warm and cozy inside
He shares it with a little mouse
She thinks it’s a good place to hide

Daddy is playing piano
Jazz, rock and classical
Mommy is singing soprano
Cloud thinks it’s a musical

Eagle perched high in a tree
He then soars without fear

In awe we watch him fly
He flies further than we can see



Flowers blooming in the meadow
The summer days are very hot
Farm animals seek a shadow
In the stable they sleep a lot



will change to
maple leaves

Grandpa is playing the cello
Under the maple tree

Cloud comes by to say hello
As friendly as he can be

Houses in our neighborhood
Sit on top of a hill

Surrounded by a leafy wood
Below is a red farm and mill

Ice cream is a tasty treat
When summer days are hot

Cloud and I want to eat
One scoop; it’s not a lot

Jeans are popular clothes
For work and for play

Daddy wears them for both
He wears jeans every day



Kindergarten is starting soon
Cloud thinks learning is cool
We will be done each day at noon
It’s good to prepare for school

Ladybug is bathing
In a drop of dew

It’s a pleasure known to her
But not to me or you

Mommy smiles at brother and me
The sun comes out from behind a cloud

There’s a red bird in a tree
He is singing very loud

Nana bakes delicious pies
Like apple and blueberry
They come in every flavor and size
My favorite one is cherry

Oatmeal is made fresh every day
With apples from our tree

Rise and shine, it’s time to play
Breakfast will keep us healthy

Our Pool is a fun summer place
Cloud really likes to swim

He always wants to have a race
I swim fast to catch up with him

Quilt on my bed is very soft
It has pretty patterns and colors

Cloud and I snuggle in
We can sleep in and dream for hours

Robin sings a merry song
Her feathers are red and brown
She tends to her babies all day long

Their nest is as soft as down

Sky in summer is blue and sunny
We like to play outside

Cloud and I can see a bunny
Looking for a place to hide

Trees stand tall in our back yard
Their leaves shine bright in the sun

When we play among them
The squirrels jump and run

Umbrella keeps us dry
In very rainy weather
Cloud wears his raincoat
When we play outside together

Violin is a gift for brother
It came from far away

Sent to him by Grandmother
He is learning how to play

Robin sings a merry song
Her feathers are red and brown
She tends to her babies all day long

Their nest is as soft as down

Xylophone makes a merry sound
When Cloud taps on the keys
Brother and I dance around

Cloud plays whatever we please

Yogurt is my favorite treat
Cloud really likes it, too
It is very good to eat
Healthy for me and you

Zzzzzz…it is time to go to sleep
Mommy turns off the light

Cloud does not let out a peep
Day has turned to night

That was the whole alphabet
Twenty-six letters from A to Z
We’ll practice again tomorrow
And commit it all to memory
