FROM THE EDITOR

Welcome to our inaugural issue of Journey Beyond Aspen. It’s finally happened! Following
a year of hard work and adventure, we bring you a twist on a travel publication. Journey
Beyond Aspen follows in the successful footsteps of social media giants who offer photographic
storytelling, in lieu of former editorial narratives, as a means for their users to communicate
easily and beautifully.

I introduce myself as a local of Aspen/Snowmass and a long-time devotee of the mountain
town, both as my home and my preferred playground. I live our exciting lifestyle FULL TIME
and have planted roots here, raising a young family and developing a business that will
allow me to explore the world and keep Aspen as home. Along with my business partner
(Risa Feldman) - a part-time Aspenite and travel aficionado - we decided to embark on a
unique mission to unveil fabulous destinations and, in turn, allow some opulent resorts to reach
out and market to our special community.

Journey Beyond Aspen gained its initial momentum as the popular travel feature, “Luxury
Beyond Aspen”; the regularly published piece had been Risa’s contribution to Aspen Luxury
Life Magazine. Just as Aspen serves as a worldly escape for many vacationers, we seek
suggestions for our off-season (and, sometimes, mid-season) retreats. Journey Beyond Aspen
aims to inspire Aspen’s community (locals and guests, alike) in planning their next get-away.
With Aspen as the BEST, we simply offer a suggestion to see and experience ‘the rest’.

Our highlighted destinations understand the value in being introduced to one of the most
educated and affluent communities, and are exclusively invited to participate in each edition.
No location has “paid to play”; instead, Journey Beyond Aspen identifies both sister locations
(e.g. Auberge Resorts, The Ritz-Carlton, W Hotel Worldwide) and highly acclaimed, 5-star resorts
that will offer the “Aspen experience” to our locality. With so many places to go and vacations
to be planned, we make choosing your next get-away easier as we hone in on outstanding stays.

In closing, we thank Aspen Luxury Life Magazine, as now we are able to take the “Luxury
Beyond Aspen” travel piece into its own realm. We will continue to focus on luxury travel and
refine our offerings - in content and advertising - to provide THE go-to guide for the next
après-Aspen adventure.

Journey Beyond Aspen comes to life as the result of my many years traveling the world,
as well as living as a resident of Aspen.

We all know and love the uniqueness that this destination mountain town has to offer.
The resor t, in winter, has arguably the best skiing in the United States. In summer, it’s a
paradise for those who love the outdoors, and a year-round town f illed with upscale boutiques
and restaurants which cater to its residents and visitors, alike.

I spent the last few years writing “Luxury Beyond Aspen”, a travel feature in the magazine
Aspen Luxury Life. It was surprising to have many people reach out to me asking questions
about the locations I had written about, or for suggestions on where to travel nex t. In recent
years of travel, I realized, more and more, that I was capturing travel and dining experiences
with photos, as opposed to documenting through journals; these photos were visually
telling a story all on their own. Thoughts began stirring that a travel magazine based on
stunning photos of destinations, simply highlighted with light editorial, would f ill a need in
the travel market.

As Director of Content for Journey Beyond Aspen magazine, I am given the task to dream big.
My love of travel, dining and adventure has evolved into my dream job! I seek out destinations
and experiences that lead me to say, “Wow!”. Some people plan travel to relax and unwind
while others search for adventure. Luxury resor ts, family vacations, and unique experiences
are all covered in this publication, appealing to all demographics and the desire to explore and
satiate wanderlust. We know that by highlighting destinations with experiential and beautiful
photos...the photos will speak for themselves.

I hope you enjoy another incredible summer in Aspen/Snowmass and remember to stay grateful
for being a par t of the unsurpassed beauty these special places offer. And, when wanderlust
occurs, “Journey Beyond”.
